A wonderful beer/cider/whiskey menu, coupled with high quality pub / "Celtic" food, in a delightful pub atmosphere. For main dishes, I had a wonderful curry (over barley!) with Irish bangers as the added protein; I chose hot, which gave it a nice curry zing without overpowering the flavor. Huge portion. My son had corned beef and cabbage, which was beautifully done. My wife had a Cobb salad, which she greatly enjoyed.Marvelous place, with a Celtic string group in the next wing giving some background tunes. The overall ambiance was noisy, but in a positive and lively way for a Monday evening. Fun!I would absolutely revisit here any time. My son's comment was he wished he could become a regular.
Loved the quaint Irish Pub setting and the food was great. The Scotch Eggs were wonderful. Crisp and crunchy on the outside, egg yolk was perfect temperature and consistency. A must have imho. The Shepherds pie was amazing and the wife enjoyed her Bangers and mash, though she felt the bangers were a bit dry. If you have never visited, park across the road in the parking garage. It is free on weekends and after 6pm if I remember correctly.
We were lucky to come early after the ND Spring game and get a table for 8. Susan N was such a great waitress. She was patient with some of our special requests, but did it with grace and ease. Always love the fish and chips. chicken tenders for kids were good. Fair prices on beer and wine. Chicken burger and pub burger good too. This is our go to place for football weekends. Lively and upbeat,
How refreshing for a post-Covid craziness experience - where we were invited to share a table with another couple who turned out to be cool and were there for the same event. Our waitress was fun and the food was some of the best I've had in a long time. I highly recommend the Irish Stew and my friend had Bangers and Mash. The next day we had a kid waiter who is still stuck wearing a worthless cloth mask and didn't tell us the bread he offered came with a $1 upcharge. But the food was even more amazing - Hazelnut crusted salmon and Corned Beef and Cabbage. It's a shame we live 4 hours away or I'd be there at least once a month! Fiddler's Hearth is now one of my Top Ten favorite U.S. restaurants and I've been to 45 states!
My Uncle and I stopped by Fiddlers two nights of the four we stayed in South Bend -it was a nice fun place. Both nights there was a bit of live music, fiddlers and flutes it was very pleasant and made me want to dance. The food was fantastic fish a chips come wrapped in a newspaper which was pretty neat. The price isn't bad at all. We had no problems getting in right away both nights but we were there during the week and it's a small place so you might have to make reservations is you're going on a weekend.Sadly right now during the week they close at 10, the kitchen closes at nine so on late nights we had to move over next door to the oyster bar, which is quite a bit louder.
It cracks me up this place is called an Irish pub. What it actually is - a pub-style diner full of retired people. Closes around 10-11 when it's bedtime for the old folks of the Midwest. Service is usually slow with no organization whatsoever. Don't think it being packed means it's worth the long wait. Just means every bored person in their 60's and 70's is there for their exotic adventure of a weekly scotch egg.
Love this restaurant. It has such a laid back - homey feel to it and the Irish food is superb! One of the most unique restaurants in South Bend. Definitely worth checking out - especially if you're only in town for a few days.
Wonderful place to go for genuine Irish pub cuisine. Make sure you either place reservations before you go, or be prepared to wait a bit fur seating. The restaurant is kinda on the small side, and is almost always packed. That's a good thing, because the atmosphere and food are excellent. Well worth any wait in the lobby area. The prices are decent, but the quality and taste of the food, reflects that course.I had the Scotch Eggs and Fish and Chips. The rest of my family had the Shepherd's Pie, Pub Burger, and the Ham Sandwich. ALL of it was outstanding. We left happy and full. Great place to go also, if you like Guinness on tap. Highly suggested.
One of favorite places. Great atmosphere and delicious food, not to mention the best Guinness you can get outside of Fado in Chicago. Go here, you'll be happy you did.
Delicious foods and drink options in a cozy atmosphere. Seriously, there aren't many places I'd consider dining in these days, but the Hearth is the BEST. This place is filled with great memories and has been one of my favorite places in South Bend for 20+ years.
