I've only gone once, so far. I went shortly after they opened, late in the morning on a weekday. I ordered a full-rack of ribs and french fries and followed up with a brownie bite desert. The food was great. They were ready with a full menu that early and that was great. The service was above average, as the bar tender was waiting tables and prepping the bar. I enjoyed my time.
On June 29th, my partner and I went to the Applebee’s on Ireland Rd in South Bend, IN. Their booths are all up on a platform, but one of their booths is kind of in a corner of the bar area and has a larger platform/landing. Not thinking much when we were asked if the seat was ok, I said sure. The area is dimly lit and the step is somewhat hard to differentiate from the floor if you aren’t looking closely. My partner, who is already disabled, went straight down, landing on her knees, twisting her hip and neck. Not one employee came to help me get her back up, even though some were standing around talking and watching the incident unfold. A manager came by about 10 minutes later to take an incident report and asked if she wanted him to call for an ambulance. We opted against going by ambulance to the ER that day because we wanted to see how she was by morning and because we both had not eaten (ER visits can be long, and feel especially grueling when you have not eaten). She did go to the ER the next day. We are 10 days past the fall, and she still has intense pain. Luckily nothing was broken but soft tissue damage can be quite difficult to navigate, as I’m sure you can imagine - especially for someone who already has degenerative disc disease. We were told a member of their incident team would call us, but we still have not heard from anyone.I am writing this because, despite SEVERAL people falling in that exact spot (confirmed by several employees and one other manager), they have yet to mark the step more clearly. A light strip, yellow tape or something could make it so that a lot less people would take a tumble off that platform. And they should NOT be seating disabled individuals in that spot, regardless if that person says ok to it. It’s a liability. One of the managers we spoke with said IF they ever took care of it, it is none of our business and he would not confirm that they plan to take care of it. Simply telling someone there is a step there is not enough if they cannot see the step when they get up to leave. Our biggest concern is trying to help others avoid this fall. I took this picture during the day, when it is better lit, but even I have lost footing on this step before.
The waffle fries were amazing for an appetizer, I order the combo appetizer for a meal because all the items sounded good. But the wings were dry with no flavor, the mozzarella sticks were cold and hard, the spinach dip was very bland and the chips really tasted stale. Our server was great though kept our sodas filled. My hubby order the whiskey burger with no fried onions. He got fried onions on it sent it back and within seconds they brought it back out. Literally just picked off the onions and nuked the burger. There was very little sauce on the burger and very very dry. Food overall is tasteless and poor quality.
Stopped here with 7 people one was a child. And they refused to seat us in an empty dining room only saw 1 other table. They turned a possible $300. But they would not budge said short staffed but 2 were just standing around. Very poor reputation for Applebee's!
Food was okay, server was great. Sadly way understaffed we stay just long enough to eat and leave, normally would stay and have a couple beers but half of our appetizers were gone before my beer showed up.
Our waitress was the best!! Our food wasn't cooked right and she took it back immediately and made the cook replace it. He even came out to make sure it was right the second time around.
The visit was ok? the food was good but took forever to get a table and then the service was too long for the wait. Took a long time for drinks to get to the table.. but after that everything else fell into place and the food was right and fresh .
Good food and although our server was new she worked hard to provide great customer service...good prices...l do wish more restaurants had non caffeine teas especially hot teas ....
Server got our food wrong after a 20-minute ride wait at 9:45 p.m. when manager was asked for management was very rude they try to take $6 off of our bill when they got the entire order wrong for both entrees an appetizer no. It was very dirty I believe the server was trying his best but was very under trained we ask for boxes to go because we couldn't eat what they gave to us they brought us a little bitty Styrofoam boxes to put two full meals in and an appetizer oh, I had to get up and request the ones that are bigger and see through I don't care if you do or not I care that they were big enough to hold the food that we had to pay for that was wrong. I asked and was told this was not the store manager this is the manager under the store manager he doesn't care about customer service he doesn't care what his servers are doing he was just upset that he was in the kitchen that night ruining our entire weekend and I had a guest in from North Michigan
Counted over 20 open tables and only one couple waiting in front of us and still had a 50 minute wait! It was 9 o clock at night, they closed at 11 and I watched them turn away everyone else that walked in the door stating they weren’t taking anymore people even though they had plenty of open tables, plenty of staff, and 2 hours until they closed …. Bad service
