The food was decent. But not $300 worth. The flat grill was grossly dirty and the cook didn't really put on much of a show like at other spots.And I hate. HATE forced gratuity. You get a tip based on your service. And while our server was good and that's about what I wound have tipped, if she was terrible she shoddy have gotten that amount. I'm not saying this to debate tipping with anyone, just a caution that there is no choice.
Guess this place just really went downhill over the last decade. We ordered sushi last night and it was the worst we ever had and we eat sushi often.We ordered 6 different rolls and they all tasted the same - tasteless. Too much rice in ratio to fish and other ingredients. The rice was too sweet while literally no other flavors came through. Not even soy sauce could help. The rolls were prepared sloppily and carelessly and were falling apart when we picked them up.Not a sushi experience I recommend.
Dinner was good. Make sure you ask them not to make it very salty. No complaints. We had a great meal
The way they cooked was entertaining, the food on the other hand, not so much. Overusing sesame oil and balsamic vinegar. Nothing was cooked correctly besides the noodles. Was not a very good experience.

Waitress took our water and pop order. Brought it to us and never came back. This food has a lot of salt and you need a lot of water. The restaurant was NOT busy. It is always management’s fault. Also they didn’t tell us there was free ice cream with meal and didn’t bring it. The steak was sort of rubbery. I am going to the one in Merrillville from now on. Also no fish ponds and bridges here!
We have been a customer for years. However, we now go to Sakura Bowl in Highland. Stopped there last night, however and sat in sushi bar. Looked....not clean. Nobody came to serve us. Then another party sat down and the waitress knew them, so they chatted. We waited. Waitress left and returned. Surely she would come to our table now to greet us, etc., right? No. We left. Will not return.
Food is always great there! Maybe it's the wkends that have the more engaging chefs, but the one we had today was done & out. Still enjoyed meal though.
I had the filet steak and shrimp. It was absolutely delicious. You also get soup, salad, choice of rice/fried rice/ noodles, and a huge portion of vegetables cooked on the Tappan. Everything was excellent. We all took home leftovers. Everyone enjoyed themselves.
It was all good the chicken is my best it was so juicy
