My family and I have enjoyed Mission BBQ's food on two separate occasions, first dine in and then carry out. We have had the brisket and ribs, the corn bread (which is included in a dinner order) and the cole slaw. I have sampled all of the standard barbecue sauces. I recommend you try all of them on your first visit, but my favorite was the Smoky Mountain, followed by the Memphis Belle. Some are spicier, some sweeter, but all are wonderful. You will find bottles at your table if you go there to dine in. Do yourself a favor and try every single one. You may find yourself expanding your taste palette. The brisket is moist, tender, and perfectly prepared. It will melt in your mouth. The baby back ribs are prepared exactly the way they should be. You will not find them done better anywhere else. Portions are LARGE and prices are reasonable. The cornbread is the best I have ever had at a restaurant. Our first time there, my wife was so enthralled that she asked for a second helping, which was provided gratis. The people who work there are friendly and dedicated to providing excellent food and a pleasant experience. If you enjoy barbecue, you really must give Mission a try.
Having lived many years in the south, my son and I are always up for pulled pork and decided to give Mission BBQ a try for lunch. We both agree that the pork itself is a 9 out of 10...best we've had north of the Mason Dixon line! I was pleased with the selection of BBQ sauces, and did indulge in trying each of the 6 flavors offered...this is not typical of any BBQ establishment that I have frequented...most have a signature sauce and you love it or not. It was nice that there were several options for sides, and that fries was not one of them. I took a risk on the slaw, which was better on the sandwich rather than as a side. My son had the baked beans which were pretty good. I wish I had been hungry enough to have justified trying the Mac n cheese too!The service was great and the atmosphere was really unique...I really love the idea of honoring those who serve on a daily basis, rather than only on specific holidays!If you haven't already tried this place, you are missing out! Great food, quick, friendly service in a unique atmosphere for about the same price as any garbage fast food joint!

Honestly so good! Best I've had in the area in a while. We had the brisket and the pulled pork and both were delicious without sauce but having six different sauces to choose from was just a bonus. We're a family of five with a baby in a high chair and this was a great place for after the kids games lunch/dinner. Very family friendly with everything you need for a baby. It's very rare that both kids and parents agree and this is one of those instances everybody cleaned their plate!!

Great people! Amazing Service! Delicious food! We had Mission BBQ of Merrillville cater our event for 150 people. Niki, our catering service specialist was super easy to work with. She said "don't worry about anything, we got this handled!" We highly recommend Mission BBQ! Give them a try for your next event! You won't be disappointed. My husband and I have always had great experiences visiting the Merrillville Mission BBQ. The food is amazing and the atmosphere is like no other. We always try to get there by noon to participate in the singing of the National Anthem. Our experience was even better yesterday thanks to Brandon!! This is a man who loves his job and his customers!!! He stopped by to talk to us a few times and went and got us containers for our take home leftovers. This man made everybody he talked to smile! 10/10 delicious food and a friendly staff. We had the pleasure of meeting Brandon who works at Mission BBQ and he was one of the kindest people I have ever met. If you are ever in the area and looking for good food with a friendly atmosphere, I highly recommend.
