My family and I were eating here yesterday when we heard what I assume was a grown man screaming and cussing in the kitchen. Everyone got quiet and he was the only one I ever heard screaming like a lunatic. Then I see a female server I assume walk out of the kitchen and out the door. If this is how you talk to your employees, no wonder you can't keep them. That was disgusting and we will not be back. Not because of the food, because I have heard awful things about the management and that confirmed it.
We were at Pepe’s on April 5th 2022, a lady kept looking and staring at another table which was very odd since she didn’t walk up to speak to the customers at the table. She did continue to talk loudly and rudely about the customers at the table she was staring at with what appeared to be a younger girl who was employed as the hostess (only know because she was the same girl that seated us). The woman got up and stared at the other tables ,asking comments about 5 times. One of the 3 ladies sitting at the table then got up and approached the other table asking if there was a problem, the lady staring acted like she was confused yet proceeded to call the other lady a [email protected]$. The lady who was being stared at asked to speak with the manager on duty who told her there was nothing they could do. Allowing another customer and an employee to harass this customer and the others she was with. They did nothing to the lady nor the employee. This is disturbing and disgusting. We will not be back. But if you don’t mind being treated rudely, disrespected, and victimized this is your place to eat at. A business should never let an employee be involved in customer issues. A business should not allow a customer to harass another customer and a business should not turn the other way on these situations. This employee should no longer have a job as she was part of the problem, and the lady who started it should not be allowed back. Yet the next time I went in the same girl was working and the lady who caused the issue was sitting at the bar. When she left she made a point to let everyone know she would be back in Saturday. Odds are she caused other issues since the manager went and spoke to her 2 while we were there. Yet she made it known she’d be back. Disturbing and disgusting to say the least.
I had a tostata and enchilada covered with cheese, it looked and tasted like a kraft single that was previously melted at some point but by the time it was brought out to me it was cold. The salsa was like tomato water with chunks of cilantro and onion. The Iced Tea was so weak you could see through it and tasted like water. It was NOT a busy time but the food was cold by the time we received it. If you are wanting mexican food, i do not recommend Pepe's Mexican Restaurant.
I had the #1 lunch special, my flautas was over cooked, my taco was cold along with my rice and beans. Everything was very bland including the salsa and the 7 dollar bowl of white cheese. My granddaughter ate the salsa and cheese dip and I was fine. The food was just not good. I do not recommend them.
Overall, not impressed. The kitchen was running extremely slow (waited upward of 45 min for 3 tacos and a kids quesadilla meal). I understand things happen. However, while during that wait, I took my 5 yr old to the restroom. When we returned, our drinks, chips, queso, and salsa had been bussed off the table. The guy bussing said, “Oh. I didn’t know you were still here.” I gave a simple, “We went to the restroom,” at which point he put the plates and drinks back on the table with his soiled gloves. Gross. I ordered the 3 taco dinner and requested grilled (white) chicken. My server didn’t know how to accommodate that request because “there’s a language barrier with the kitchen.” Instead I ordered steak tacos. While waiting, someone cleaned the table across from us (a good 6’ feet away) and she managed to fling rice everywhere. She looked around after, disregarding me cussing under my breath for having rice in my hair. Our server never once brought a refill and never once replaced the dishes that were bussed and placed back on the table. Once the food came, the tacos left a lot to be desired. The steak was SO tough, so full of gristle, and otherwise just gross. This is an experience I should have refused to pay for, but I just wanted to leave by the time it was over with. Would not recommend and will not be returning.
My family of 6 were just there for dinner. They were not very busy at all.Our waiter took for ever to even take our order.The food, all except 1 order was wrong. It was taken and brought back a second time still wrong. Thrn we never sae anyone to fix it for the second time. When my husband finally found a so called manager she promised to make everything right. She took $8 off the bill.....that wasn't even the cost of any of the meals. We use to go to Pepe's often and now we will not be back. This was the worst food and service I've ever received anywhere. It literally made me long for McDonald's.
Great salsa and drinks.
I have loved Pepe's since I was a little kid. It's has always been my favorite place to eat. Never get tired of it! LOVE IT!!❤️❤️❤️
Today I was in Lafayette and stopped at Pepe’sMexican restaurant. I have heard good things about this restaurant.The staff was very friendly. I was seated pretty quickly and my order taken quickly as well.I didn’t have to wait long for my order.The food was really good. I had the chicken and shrimp fajitas.The chips and salsa were very good as well. I really appreciated that the salsa was not t spicy.My waitress Jordan was very good and efficient.She kept checking to see if very thing was ok and if I needed anything else.I highly recommend this restaurant. The atmosphere is very calm and payed back.
Great great service. And as always great great food. Super fresh and a great atmosphere for the load of bartenders we brought with us.
