Multiple incidents this year has led me to the conclusion that they are no longer equipped to handle their own fan base and customers. I have repeatedly tried to get food from them, and while I know that is not the focus. have some manners and INFORM your customers... tonight I got in line at 6:50 or so. there was a rather long line but that was ok if I could get my fruit drink and a sandwich... however the 'kitchen is closed' is what I got.. followed shortly by... the last guy was the last kitchen order... When I asked for the manager she had nothing to add but the kitchen closes at seven...really.. not posted... she admitted it isn't.. never offered to help me or ask how she can make anything better and was obviously unwilling to budge on the kitchen and was matter of fact smiling rude about it. we're not asking for miracles... just let us freaking eat sometimes...
Not worth your money. Options were limited. They were out of most stuff. Ordered a basic cone and the custard was half melted and falling off the cone as they handed it out the window. When we asked for another cone they just took off the top scoop of custard from the cone and tried to give us the same melted cone with half the custard. Very poor service, I do not recommend.
Yummy custard and flavored fountain drinks
Tried the s’mores and the pineapple custard. The pineapple custard had a very odd flavor and neither my husband or I could finish it because of how bad it tasted so we had to throw it away. The s’mores had a good flavor but the graham cracker chunks were like eating shoe leather. I was so disappointed because I was looking so forward to trying this place!
We have fond memories of visits here with the grand parents. Now we take our kids and soon we will take our grand kids here. The custard is super sweet and rich. Been to sweet shops all over the country. This one still ranks high on our list. It has been let to run down some. It still looks similar to what it did when we were there as kids. The custard is the reason to come. They appear to be experiencing what our country is in the midst of (a lack of labor, especially that cares). Still we cannot help ourselves but to find mercy and give this place our patience and continued patronage. It is a Lafayette icon and worthy of preserving (at least so say WE). Give this place a try (with your patience in tact :).
Drive there as their hours said they were open until 8pm but their sign said they were closed (before 7:30).
Came back to Lafayette for a quick trip to visit relatives. I was surprised to see how much it had changed over the years. The tables outside looked like they hadn’t been wiped down in quite a while and the trash cans were over flowing with garbage. Good thing it wasn’t sweltering hot outside, or the bees would have been attacking. ?
They don't have food available on Sundays. But the fruit drink and customer service is always worth the waiting in long lines.
Great afternoon snack. Hot fudge sundae was great.
My wife and i went thru the drive thru a few nights ago, and let me tell u! I have never felt so strong armed in my life! For $17.00, we got a plain vanilla waffle cone, in fact was all cone! Custard didnt even fill cone! Then the pound cake my wife had was hard an gross! Just felt like i got robbed is all!
