Love the memories from this place with my Grandma. I was sad that they couldn't make some of the old fashioned flavors of the candy sticks, it was the only place that had sarsaparilla! They said it was cause of the humidity.
Employees there were incredibly friendly and humored me on my weird drink idea. Root beer, cinnamon, and marshmallow. Kinda tastes like a well iced cinnamon roll. I definitely wanna go back.
We grew up around Lafayette. This place has been here for years. It is preserved much the same way it was when we were kids. Our daughter even worked here when she was in High School. It is under new ownership. It was nice to talk with them as they endeavor to make this place what it once was. We were there just prior to the "Mosey" so it was interesting to see the area when the streets were blocked off. It was still pretty busy even though access was limited. We had the chocolate coke and bought some candy from the shop. The coke was great. We know who doesn't like a coke on steroids. The chocolate tasted good not upper level great. They make their candies so that is nice. It was a pleasant stop. We really enjoyed talking with the new owner. We wish them well. This is a nice stop when in downtown Lafayette to get your sweet tooth satisfied. We love these old time places being preserved. Hopefully there are enough people like us out there that will keep places like this alive. We know they need to merit the business, but this place does that in our book. Give it a try!
While back in Indiana we had to stop at our favorite candy store. The new owners are very friendly and excited to keep the traditions as well as add some creative twists. The buck eye candies were super creamy and just as I remembered, but the cashew turtles stole the show. Can't wait to visit again when we are back in the area!
I used to go there everyday after work. Great people…even the new owners. Super nice. Great products as well. Absolutely zero complaints as far as the people and environment and quality. Highly highly recommend!!! They definitely deserve peoples business. So far I have only experienced one down side though. It randomly closes on weekdays during the middle of the day, I’m not sure why. But it will say it’s open online. It has made me a smidge hesitant going there considering I walk so I would definitely recommend not going there without calling first. If I catch a trend as far as the days they do this I’ll update the post.
The candy is a little too sweet and too expensive. The employee was not super friendly. As someone who has difficulty deciding "decidophobia", quite stressful to patronise
Always a pleasure to stop in for a real old-fashioned soda! They still mix the syrup and carbonated water by hand! Delicious homemade candy and the staff is always a notch above! I love supporting this family owned local business!
Workers were friendly. Store was clean. Great variety of candy on display great prices. Wished they would bring back the white chocolate candy bricks but overall a great place to go.
I went in expecting to find candy and more candy but ended up enjoying a delicious lunch! Their food menu is surprising! Was the burger anything incredible? This isn't an artisan burger shop. But it was relatively cheap and still quite delicious.
A very cool candy shop with lots of options. They make most of their candy in-house and their candy is really delicious. I highly recommend checking this place out!
