I had no ideal that Steak 'n Shake no longer has wait staff. Six of us go in to have dinner only to find out I had to enter my own freaking order for six people. They no longer have malts, they didn't have salads, the pepper juice in the bottles on the tables are gone, no cherry coke flavoring. The steak burgers were over seasoned. The hamburger buns where horrible. Needless to say I'll never go back and I am fair in my restaurant reviews.
This place was disgusting! Even after using 6 of our cleaning whips there still was food in crevices. the floor looked like it hadn't been cleaned in a week the dirt and food was caked on. The high chair we had to put a blanket in because it had so much food. I will never eat here again and it is my wife's favorite place to eat now it's just a run down mediocre stop. The food was ok but the experience was horrible.
The self-serve kiosks are perhaps the worst idea in company history. No employees anymore....just the kiosk. Want to pay with cash? Forget it....credit/debit only. Want a receipt? They don't offer one anymore. Have a complaint? Tough....you have no proof of purchase. We'll never go back.
Disgraceful. Filthy. No one to clean tables, floors, kiosk. Every table dirty. Everyone has to to touch kiosk screen to order, then handle sandwich. Great way to spread germs.
Dining room experience has completely changed. You order from a monitor now and they call your number to pick it up. Well, good luck with that. You place your name on the order and then call a number, not the name you gave them. Don't bother checking your receipt because you don't get one.
The place could use a good cleaning!! Restroom floor drains are dry and that is where the smell is coming from. Pour a bucket of water down them!!!! Food was good, just don’t appreciate eating on a dirty table.
Don't bother stopping at this one poorly run, doors locked at 5pm with people dining inside. Steak n Shake has become a place where quality personal service has become extinct. Go to Indys Burger Joint on Stop 11 and Emerson. Better food and better service by far.
Love the food but as far as no eat in owners need to get their heads out of the [email protected]# and open indoor eating
I've only been inside once since they changed the setup to self service. I was disappointed. It used to be such a fun place to go. I understand the need to reduce staff but, there was no one working in the front of the house at all. We used a kiosk to order and the food was set out very quickly. I ordered a 5 way and it came in 2 styrofoam bowls instead of 1 larger regular bowl. It did stay warmer longer but, it was just strange. The 2 stars are for the taste of the food and because I still love the memories I have from years of eating there.
Very disappointed. Excited that dine-in was open but it was not what we expected. I don't like the kiosk but I can live with it. I ordered Chili Mac with cheese and onion. It came divided in 2 small cups. There was very little chili and it was barely warm. They gave us a spoon and knife. I went up and asked for a fork to find out they didn't have any. I miss having a waitress. I may try another location but I won't be back to this one.
