This place is an example of you get what you pay for. Just shy of $100 for 3 of us to eat (all got Reubens), but portions were large and tasted great.

Healthy sandwiches, large portions and very friendly service. High recommended.

Great food and service. Definitely recommend.

Shapiro’s never disappoints! From stacked pastrami sandwiches to delicious entrees and huge desserts, it should be on your list if you are visiting Indianapolis! We had a pastrami on rye with Boston Cream pie, and the baked chicken entrée with green beans and warm potato salad. All of it was inhaled (except the dessert- we took it to go because we were stuffed!) They have a deli and carry out as well as dine in. Don’t miss out on Shapiro’s!

My Grandfather is a regular at Shapiro’s, and whenever we’re in town we’ll go out for lunch here. Besides the food, which needless to say is absolutely delicious (the Reuben sandwich is one of the best I’ve had in years, although it’s quite large so be prepared to take half home. Desserts are sensational and very well portioned as well, as are their sides & soups. Can’t really go wrong with anything, honestly) the staff members are all extremely friendly and complaisant, and make a point of greeting my Grandfather and I whenever we sit down to eat. Jennifer in particular is quite convivial.Shapiro’s in general is just a really solid place to eat. If you’re visiting Indianapolis, it’s a must visit.

We moved away and hadn't eaten here for 12 years. This was the only place we had to eat at while visiting here. It was every bit as good as we remembered it.

I had higher hopes than Shapiro’s met on my first visit to the deli. Don’t get me wrong… I’ll be back, but I didn’t enjoy the beef brisket as much as I had hoped (lacked flavor, a bit tougher texture than I prefer), and credit to my friend, Eleanor, I make better mac’n cheese at home. ??‍♂️Plenty more options to go though… plenty of visits in my future… but this time was an, “ehhhh” from me. Next time, I’ll go with a Reuben because that looked delicious on the tray in front me. But, whaddaya gonna do. Life goes on.

Went her for lunch with some friend while in town for a volleyball tournament. We went at lunch time and the place was packed. The line was really long but moved pretty quickly. We got sandwiches, soups, chili and dessert. Everything tasted great and we even had a ton of left overs.

I really liked the feel of the place on the inside. Definitely a throwback and worth stopping by. I got a carry out order but I will return for dine-in.The food.. well it was OK. I got the “top rated” Reuben. A $20 sandwich. Outside of a bison burger it’s the most expensive sandwich I have ever bought. It was not worth it.For that price I expected something piled high with corn beef to the heavens. What I got was a very usual looking stack of bread, meat, sauerkraut, and 1000 island. The taste was sweeter than I’m used to. Not in a bad way, just different. The meat was piled toward the middle where the bread was soft and the edges were hard. The effect was that while holding and biting the sandwich the meat pushed to the middle and there was almost no meat at the edge. The sandwich wasn’t bad. It’s just overhyped. It didn’t stand out from any other Reuben. You could one like it in many places and pay half the price. What intrigues me about Shapiro’s is the lover and tongue sandwiches. I haven’t seen that anywhere before. So I will return to try those unique offerings.

It really is the best deli in Indiana. Corned beef and pastrami are stellar. Get a new York Reuben. You will not be disappointed.
