Got neckbones, mixed greens, dressing and cornbread. Also got rib tips, sweet potatoes, Mac n cheese. Added on smothered pork chop and got peach cobbler. Neckbones were fire! Greens pretty good. Dressing was not good and had no flavor. My son wouldn't eat the rib tips (not good). Mac n cheese below average. Smothered pork chop had no seasoning and peach cobbler was a very very bad and had no seasoning or flavor. Paid $47 and was very disappointed. Has been better in the past. I'll try again at the new location. I didnt tip up front and I wonder if they had a good pot/bad pot because it was mostly bad!
I had to have my DOSE of Soul Food As Soon As I could eat regular food at Hospital! The BEST Script a Dr could recommend - Neck Bones, full of Meaty flavor, ALL THE WAY to the BONES....Sweet Potatoes, which is like a Gentle Kiss of SWEETNESS that's needed with those UMAMI FLAVORED NECK BONES...Of course you need the MIXED GREENS, they are like the Vegetable that Gets Along with everything. A Saltiness that lends its Nectar to Kountry Kitchen's Sweet Cornbread! Wow! I was transported to my Big Mama's Dinner table, right in my Hospital bed. Thank you Kountry Kitchen! Your Recipes truly FED MY SOUL....while inside IU North Hospital. I will DEFINITELY be back! Some people can COOK...but, there are FEW IN BETWEEN who can BURN!! KOUNTRY KITCHEN CAN BURN!?????
I was very excited to try this place. I've heard nothing but great things about it!!! The food was delicious...and I found out later that the original place had caught fire and this was a temporary location. Ok, I truly wish I would've known that before I ventured across town to dine here. Long story short, I was really wanting a place to sit down and enjoy my food before I got back on the road. But unfortunately their temporary location didnt allow for this eating option. Also i had to wait close to an hour to receive my food. Those 2 reasons where the only reasons why I took off a star. The food was delicious, and the staff was very attentive and apologetic about my wait.Next time I'm in town, hopefully they will have a permanent location and I can give an update.
I heard so much about this place so I was extremely disappointed. If y'all giving this place good ratings, come to my house to eat cuz I could do better than this place on a bad day. The smothered porkchop was just all gravy and mush and wasn't even tender. The meatloaf was boring. The perch was okay but you can just buy some good fish fry and make it at home. Macaroni and cheese tasted like it was frozen, definitely not homemade. I can say I've had it and I won't be back. This place is all hype. Booooo!
Customer service is trash. Why be rude to paying customers?The audacity when the food is just decent, the portions are small, and it's most definitely over-priced!They need to update some things to say the least... I won't be going back.
I order the Catfish filled dinner with 2 sides. The catfish was amazing! Seasoned well & fried to perfection but the macaroni didn't taste anything like a soulfood macaroni. It was really disgusting. I've heard really good things about this restaurant so I expected more out of the macaroni. Maybe a new recipe was used, not sure but overall the fish was good. And this business is very professional and made the food in a timely manner.
I went to Country Kitchen today ordered my food at 7:47 p.m. and I just got my food at 9:07 p.m. they ran out of yams they ran out of cornbread we had to substitute people got their food before I did and I place my order way before they did they was really unprofessional because they didn't call tell nobody that they ran out of yams and they knew it was a Sunday evening so they should have been more prepared with their product now the staff they was kind of nice but the products in a quantity and quality of food is is unacceptable I've been a shelf for 15 years and this was a highly highly professional so I believe Country Kitchen need to get their stuff together in order to grow their business even more
Food tasted ? great! The portion size was great! The baked pork chop was small and thin compared to what they used to have. Customer service was great! Will go back!
Unfortunately food does taste different. The Mac and cheese isn’t good at all and fried meat doesn’t taste as seasoned as it once did the same is true for their baked bread and dessert.
Pork chop meal was soggy and real thin. Their pork chops used to taste like good fried pork chops. Not anymore. Their batter tastes different. Their mac & cheese is disgusting. The cabbage was just ok. Fried corn was really good. Their lemonade/tea mix is also really good. I finally got a piece of cornbread that wasn't hard as a brick.
