You already know His Place Eatery is GOOD. Thousands of amazing reviews and it’s constantly posted to Indy Foodies. Tried it out for ourselves and it didn’t disappoint!HighlightsBest food: creamed corn (OMG!), turkey, dressing, brisket, pulled pork, Mac N Cheese. In that order. The only thing I wouldn’t order again is the mashed potatoes.Service was truly amazing for 2022 on a Friday night. The place was packed and carry out orders were flying, but our server took great care of her tables. It seemed like all of the servers worked together to provide a great experience.Highly recommend to any and all soul food lovers!
Better than home! BBQ, smokehouse, southern fried chicken, this place has it all. The candied yams and green beans are delicious. Hearty portions at a reasonable price. Best part is the staff is friendly, quick and professional. They keep the tables turning so the wait is not too long. They also keep the place clean and tidy, even the bathroom! Restaurant is on the smallish side. No reservations - first come, first served. No parties larger than 5-6. This is an eat and scoot place; food is so good they want to serve as many people as possible. Respect! #hisplace
Definitely enjoyed my food and the service made you feel like you are in your grandma's or Auntie's kitchen. The servers were helpful and checking to make sure we had everything routinely. I got the rib tips. Which were sooo tender. Plenty of smoke flavor. I didn't even need sauce. But used some anyway. My greens were so fresh and delicious. Cooked and simmered with Turkey , the waitress said. Full of flavor. One time I got the Bourbon creamed corn! So creamy and delicious, had me craving for more. The 2nd time I went, i got the mac n cheese! Taste just like my momma and grandma made! Super creamy and cheesy! With so much flavor! This will be my destination everytime i drive this way!!!! I definitely will be returning ☺️ ?
On Thursday, June 9th, my wife and I visited this place. We both are big fans of Southern cooking, barbecue and soul food. This place does not disappoint. We were greeted by a very enthusiastic hostess and our waitress was friendly and efficient. My wife had the Red Velvet Chicken and Waffles and I had the catfish dinner. Everything was delicious! We will be back!
The food is southern style and it very good. Didn't have to wait to be seated even though they were extremely busy. The staff was very polite and ready to serve the customer. The server took our order and we only waited about 10 minutes for meal, and it was served hot and to our specification. If you are looking for a restaurant that served home cooked meals this the place for you and your family.
This was a HOTSPOT! I travel from State to State and support atleast one Black Owned restaurant and by far, this has the best chicken yet!? I had the Peach Cobbler Waffles and Chicken with Lemonade for my drink and Peach Cobbler for dessert!! Yummy!! It makes me want to visit Indianapolis again! Must try!!!
In town to support family members up from North Carolina for the AAU Basketball Tournament. So we went to a spot I'd heard rumors of. Well, consider this review as confirmation.Chef Jones and Samara, as well as the Wait-list Hostess made me and my family feel like honored guests. The food was well on the "Yes I want more, but I'm too full side!" Seriously. We did want dessert, just couldn't fit it in. The helpings we're more than generous. The food was good. And that Kudo was given by finicky teenagers, lol. Personally, I thought it was more than good. It was delicious...and very good.My understanding is that this place has been a fixture in Indianapolis for more than 13 or 14 years..here's to many more to come. I definitely think anyone going in the direction of Indianapolis need to stop and check this place out.
Had to go back twice!!! Food was very good. Met the owner and loved the story behind the business. We had a party of 10 and everyone enjoyed their food. Went back the next day for lunch. The fried chicken, string beans, dressing, greens, banana pudding and peach cobbler were my favorite!
Some of the best soul food I've had here in indy. Everything was delicious my favorite was the peach cobbler it was so fulfilling and I shared it with my friend so there was plenty. Can't wait to go back to try other things. Pictured fried fish, dressing w/gravy, greens, cornbread and peach cobbler.
Truly a hidden gem! It’s been a while since I’ve had some good ol southern comfort food! Will return again very soon to start trying their deserts. They have a very good selection of food, and their desert menu is mouth watering!
