I recently brought my son here to celebrate his 18th birthday. We devoured every delicious morsel set in front of us and are still raving about our dining experience a week later! Not only is the food incredibly tasty, but the wait staff (our server was Misty and she was FANTASTIC!!) and ambience is very warm and inviting. The piano player even surprised us by playing "Happy Birthday" during our dessert! We will definitely be back!!
Great service at the bar. Excellent cocktails, good wine lists as well. I had Beef Wellington as a main. Absolutely fantastic! I don't see this dish on a menu often and never in a solo serving. The hint of mustard over the beef and under a perfect pastry dough was it for me. Highly recommend and I will return.
The service was absolutely fantastic and the food even more so! We had the calamari (delicious!), French onion soup (he said it amazing), a filet (chefs kiss), ribeye (another chefs kiss) with onions, mushrooms, and cognac cream (to die for). The sides we chose were the rosemary steak fries and steamed asparagus. Definitely a place to go!
Perfectly prepared steaks, risotto, and Beef Wellington. Staff was knowledgeable, polite, and attentive. Atmosphere was conducive to quiet conversation. Live piano was an added treat. Geraldine’s is a little out of the way but we’ll worth whatever effort it takes to get there.
Geraldine's is a bit off the beaten path, standing alone on a corner of English Ave southeast of downtown Indy. It is an older, restored building and as they describe on their website reminiscent of "a nostalgic steakhouses & jazz club of the 1940’s-1960’s." We ate downstairs where the pianist played on a Thursday evening. Upstairs is similar atmosphere, but lacking the bar, and white tablecloths replacing the black ones from the main level. From the moment we were greeted the evening was a pleasant experience. My wife order a lovely glass of 13 Celsius from New Zealand and I enjoyed a well-prepared gin gimlet up. We shared the lettuce wedge and I ordered the seared sea scallops which on this evening were served in the style of Coquilles Saint-Jacques with mushrooms and bacon. It was quite lovely as was the risotto that my wife ordered. Fortunately, we brought our take-away plastic containers as there was extra that we packed for home. Dessert was a tasty creme brulee with a nice crust and accompanying berries. The music was a pleasant background that enhanced the atmosphere. Service was quite nice, though short or brisk, as our waitress also did some bar tending. The restaurant is not large; I would estimate about 10 tables or less in the main bar area downstairs. We will return as this restaurant is now on our list of Indy favorites.
What a amazing dining experience! The coolest ambience and delicious food!
Beautifully preserved space with exposed brick and high ceilings. The food was very good and the service impeccable. If you ask nicely, the manager will give you a short history lesson on the building.
This place F**ks. Great atmosphere with live piano music. Get their early and order the Beef Wellington, it typically sells out. Chocolate Hazelnut Ganache Cake made me nut my pants.
Overall, Geraldine’s was good but not great. The service was very good, the atmosphere was great, but the food wasn’t as good as we had hoped. My favorite restaurant is Bavette’s in Chicago, and Geraldine’s has a similar vibe but isn’t quite on the same level. I would still recommend people check this place out!
We stumbled upon this place and I can’t tell you how excited I am that we found this place!! We had such a great experience! We did their coffee service and got some of their chocolate cake. They have live music and the service is just superb!! I would give them 10 stars if I could. This is a MUST SEE if you are in the area. (get the cake!)
