My son and I had a wonderful lunch at Don Juan Vs today. We enjoyed chicharron sandwiches, yuca fries, a tamal and Peruvian beef Lo Mein. Everything was fresh and delicious (as always). I highly recommend it!!
Today I'm was looking for a Cuban sandwich. I'm so happy I did not find one. Instead today was a Peruvian sandwich, made by the owner, V, and it was excellent. The flavors were bursting at the seams. It is not often I will say this but if all Peruvian sandwiches are this good, this flavorful, this exciting, then it makes me desire to travel to Peru. Please stop in and try something special. You will not be disappointed.
It took a little for the food to be prepared and served. But I could tell that time was not wasted once I tasted the sandwich. Very delicious. Large portion size. Great service.
I had Lechon, empanada and plantain. The portions are huge. What wonderful flavor the sandwich and plantain had. The empanada didn't have enough spice for me and seemed sort of bland. That sandwich though! Worth the wait. Unless you have called your order in or something, don't expect a trip here to be like fast food. It's not. Good food can take time to cook. You will not be disappointed. The prices are decent. It's a small business that has earned their place on the south side of Indy. I'll visit often. There's a nice little picnic area and tables to the side of the building where you can eat outside as a family or privately.
Portion sizes are large. Heavy on the onions.Good but not exactly to my taste. If you like Peruvian spice mix it is likely for you.

Sitting in the parking lot with a full belly as I type this. First time trying Peruvian food, and staff gave us some recommendations with very friendly and welcoming demeanor. Lomo saltado and chicharrones sandwiches, both of which were huge and delicious - especially for the price. Sides of fried yucca and beef empanada were super yummy as well. All served up fresh and fast. Can't wait to come back with more friends/family!

Indy’s international food scene never ceases to amaze me; Don Juan V’s is an excellent example of authentic Peruvian diaspora food in the Midwest thanks to immigrants. It can’t be missed.The ceviche is 10/10 and highly recommended. Had yuca fries and the Lomo Saltado sandwich…think an Italian Beef style sandwich but instead the Peruvian version blows it away.The restaurant’s interior is cozy and welcoming with three tables up front. One family was playing Uno when we came in. Staff was very warm and kind. The food was sublime.
