I heard about Dale's from FB. I went on Thursday night for the fried chicken buffet. The place was a little over half full. The buffet was very small. My friend ordered off the menu. ( half pd bacon- half pound burger with homemade chips) and I got the buffet. The chicken was good. The rest of the buffet was not so good. The entire time I was there, the corn and beans were nearly empty. The beans were refilled as I was leaving. The other items were dried out and looked very unappetizing. I doubt I go back. We spent $40 after tip and tax- with $15 buffet, $15 sandwich and $3 drink. I got water.
Stumbled upon this place while looking for a breakfast spot on our way out of town and I'm very glad we went! It seemed like a very popular restaurant, not too packed but there was a few minutes wait time. We didn't do the breakfast buffet but I noticed the staff kept the pans full with fresh food out of the kitchen. The breakfast skillets we did have were really good and very filling!
Atmosphere is adorable, everything appears clean. Our server was amazing. I believe her name was Dede. She was very personable and friendly. The food was disappointing, to say the least. I ordered the hand cut sirloin steak, I received steak tips. I ordered mashed potatoes and Mac n cheese for my sides. The Mac had broccoli bits in it, I asked our server if broccoli was served with the Mac and she said no. When she brought the new Mac n cheese she informed me that they grabbed my bowl from the strainer. I’m assuming that meant it was not washed from the previous customer. We arrived around 3:30 and finally got out of the restaurant at 5pm.My husband ordered the avocado burger but they were out of avocado so he got the bacon burger instead. He said the burger was fine but not something he’d order again.
Went to a dance recital at BGHS for my granddaughter. Decided to do a sit down lunch. My son found Dale's with a 4 star and over 1000 reviews so we tried it.Arrived at a little after noon and hostess asked if we objected to sitting in the bar and we said no. She handed us 4 menus and utensils and told us to find a seat. Which we did. One member of the party was about 10 minutes late.During that time we observed an employee come out to bus and clean tables and talked to another table behind us. This happened twice. Then another employee came out and did the same, took something from table behind us (probably a credit card) - went behind bar and the other table got up and left. This, so far, has taken about 15-20 minutes. At no time did anyone working in the bar area ask us for a drink order or even greeted us.Finally my son went out to inquire and - voila - a server showed up about 5 minutes later. She mentioned the buffet bar so we tried it.Small selection of breakfast foods including fruits, etc. Eggs were OK. Ham was very dry. Bacon had been nuked and none in the bin. Sausage links were at least moist. They brought out fresh biscuits and they were decent. All in all I probably won't be back. I can stand bad food - just don't eat it. I don't like bad service.Since they have a 4 star average rating I'm guessing it's not like this most of the time. I have no idea of what the 3 buffets cost (my wife didn't eat) so I don't know if anyone got their money's worth.
We ordered on line through the website, was ready for pick up really close to the promised time. Service was excellent for pick up. We ordered the fried chicken (bone in) it was great, mashed potatoes with brown gravy (very good, lumpy if that bothers you. I liked them), kids got Hot Dog, Mac & Cheese ( I tried this-excellent), wife got a Buffalo Chicken Wrap (excellent). The fries and onion rings were very good. If you like homemade onion rings you need to try these! I would definitely recommend this restaurant. They had a sign posting a lot of position openings for employment so if you dine in you may need to extend a little grace & patience as all restaurants are dealing with these employee shortages which makes it more difficult to deliver great service 100% of the time.
There was a concert in Indy that made the restaurants we had planned to visit too crowded. We took a chance on Dale’s, and it was one of the highlights of our vacation! We are a family of 8 and every one of us raved about the food we ordered. Those of us with gluten allergies loved the GF pasta and bread. Our teens even loved their salads! We were told they only had two cooks that night and one server, but you would have never known they were short staffed. Dale’s is a hidden gem and my family can’t recommend it enough!
The menu looks great but…… ordered 6 meals. 2 were hot, others were room temperature. Disappointed. Like I said, the menu looked awesome and all the meals sounded great but the execution was lacking. We all got different meals. Will probably try one more time.
Food came out quick. Biscuits and gravy were real good. Hash browns unfortunately below average. Underdone to my tastes and high oil content, could smell grease before taking the bite. Wife agreed. Service was just average, but not bad. Not bad for value. Maybe would have tried the home fries knowing what I know now.
First time visiting and I will definitely return. Everyone working was very polite and attentive. The food quality was well above average. We had the breakfast buffet (weekends only). The selection was not huge, but the quality was great. Pancakes, biscuits, gravy, eggs, sausage, etc. Plus fresh fruit. Chocolate milk came in HUGE glass (usually one can only expect a small cup). Under normal circumstances I would say the prices are just a big high, but I certainly can't say that now with the cost of food so high. I couldn't have made the same breakfast we got off the buffet at home any cheaper right now.
We went at around 11am. I got the create your own breakfast with the biscuits and gravy and French toast. I upgraded the French toast to the banana fosters. The gravy had decent flavor and was a tad bit thicker than I like but that could be from sitting. The biscuits were horrible. They were thin and hard as a rock. The french toast was decent but could have been warmer. The banana foster topping tasted like maple syrup with some fresh sliced bananas in. My husband got the fish sandwich and fries. He said fish was hot but lacked flavor. My daughter said the same about her breaded tenderloin. I'm not sure that after this visit we would visit again.
