We bought meats from Klemm’s when they were on South Street and have been buying meats from Claus since they opened. We have relocated from Indianapolis to Charleston SC and every time we come back to Indy to visit we stop by Claus to stock up on Smoked Pork Chops and of course, Frikadellen. We are so happy when we leave the shop with coolers full of Meat and very sad when we have used the last of our precious supply of meat and have to wait until the next trip, to take another load of meat back to SC.
This place is fantastic! From the moment you step inside, you are greeted by the aroma of smoked meats. A carnivore's paradise! So many meats and sausages to choose from, many of which are difficult or impossible to find elsewhere (at least within a reasonable distance.) Brats, kielbasa, mortadella, even getta! Good luck finding that one anywhere else outside of the Cincinatti area! The folks working there are suoer nice, and extremely patient. Prices seem pretty reasonable, too, considering all of the sausages are made right there, instead of being ahipped in from halfway across the country. You can't get fresher unless you make it yourself. Most of the stuff there seems to priced somewhere around $8 per pound. Definitely worth checking out!
