Looks are deceiving the photos online will have your mouth watering but when you get there and taste that crap???? they gave us a dime size portion of their Spanish rice my friend had ordered extra rice so she got a nickel size portion ? the fajitas had no seasoning and no tomatoes they don't put tomatoes in it? I've had much better at a corner store I ordered a bunch of food to I was very disappointed with everything
Very bad experience. It took my husband and I 10 mins of looking at the menu to see what we wanted because nothing looked appealing. Service was almost nonexistent. Took forever for them to check on us. The salsa was tomato soup. Only reason for 2 stars was because guacamole was okay and it was a cheap meal. Not somewhere we’d go back to.
If you’re looking for AUTHENTIC Mexican food this place is NOT it. The food was bland they didn’t even have salt shakers at the tables. the salsa was served hot and flavorless. The service is the only thing saving this place from getting a 1 star from me. Definitely won’t be coming back to eat here.
Disappointed to say the least Salsa was literally hunts tomato sauce, then the hot sauce was only crushed jalapenos. Brought out oregano and ancho peppers crushed...not sure what was the idea there . Dried spices doesn't work . Ordered menudo was bland and tasted like a barnyard no hominy or anything. I've had some of the best menudo and this wasnt even close. Highlight of the meal was Spanish rice, it was very good. Pozole was very bland served with whole vegetables and not tender. Seemed thrown together no love put into it. Tacos were good though, cojita cheese. Overall I'd say bland and overpriced. Also we were rushed out the door. Closed at 9pm.
Margaritas were excellent just like the waitress and the food. Will definitely go back. There were 4 of us.

Loved El Taco Real in Hammond, IN. The food was amazing and at an affordable cost. The customer service and dining ambiance was excellent. Recommend the enchiladas and Carne asada tacos.
Food is delicious. Prices are reasonable. The hostess was our waitress and was distracted by other customers. I had to ask for a carry out container and our bill.
Drive from Crown Point to Hammond just to dine here. I haven't had 5 star Mexican food in a long time. I'm a bit harsh on my reviews but I expect quality. There is no comparison on atmosphere, service, portions, and food. A must if you like Mexican food.
I bought my food to go and wish I had eat it there. Taking it home and reheating it gave the meal no justice. I plan on going back soon and eating there because even reheated the flavor was there but not as bold as it was cooked to. This restaurant is a must try for those of you who enjoy Mexican food and great for the price.
