Shrimp Cocktail was $20 and very small shrimp. I thought blue cheese dressing should be homemade it was clearly from a jar with some added blue cheese. I was correct when I checked with the kitchen. I talked to the manager when I ate there a month ago and was told he would get "Halls Restaurants" recipe for blue cheese dressing in Fort Wayne, and they would make it homemade. Halls is the best. I called tonight and talked to the manager who talked with the kitchen. They are still not making their blue cheese dressing homemade. They still have the same "small" shrimp in their $20 shrimp cocktail. Very disappointed in a restaurant of this caliber to not live up to the food quality that other higher end restaurants have. Trolley Bar is known for the salad bar to not have homemade blue cheese dressing is unacceptable. I would not go here because there's many other better options in Fort Wayne: Halls Factory; Cork-N-Cleaver; Eddie Merlots, Ruth Chris's to name a few. Cork-N-Cleaver has the best rated salad bar in Fort Wayne.
I must first say that I was impressed with the enthusisatic and attentive service and I did leave between at 30-35% gratuity. Servers are not responsible for what comes out of the kitchen. I ordered the $42 filet mignon. The meat that came to my table was approximately 5" in diameter and 3/4" and tough as shoe leather. NO, IT WAS NOT FILET MIGNON. The accompanying mashed potatoes had a skin on it which tells me it had ben aorund for a while. The broccoli was mushy and partly discolored brown. I'm not sure if it was meant to prepared that way but my wife's Almond Crusted Walleye appeared to be deep fried. Not at all what she expected when she ordered. Salad bar was margnally fresh. I understand how difficult things are on the hospitality industry but I just cannot recommend this restaurant. It appears to running on reputation alone and not quality of food.
For $40-60 at plate, we expect timely service. We gave it a second chance after a mediocre first visit. This will be our last.
Very disappointed in the Shrimp Cocktail tonight at the Trolley Bar on Dupont Road in Fort Wayne. $20 for 5 fairly small shrimp is not an acceptable size or quality of shrimp for Trolley Bar. Club Soda still has the best shrimp in Fort Wayne. The shrimp presentation at the Trolley was also mediocre. Last time I was here you got 4 shrimp but they were 6-8 count per pound. These were more like 16-18 count per pound at best possibly smaller. The Wedge salad was a nice surprise, probably the largest and best looking salad in Fort Wayne for a wedge. Although the blue cheese dressing was clearly not homemade and should be for this caliber of a Restuarant. I changed my review from a 2 to a 3 for the wedge size. Overall though the food experience was a disappointment. The waitress was excellent.
I've been here twice and both times the service was fantastic. Host is very kind and welcoming and the waitresses are very friendly and attentive to our table. It's definitely not a cheap restaurant but the price is worth it every so often for a nice date night or a nice meal with your family. My wife got the Key Lime Pie martini and it was very good. I like the shrimp and ribeye steak, and the cheesecake they have for dessert is amazing! My wife got the king crab legs which we didn't see on the menu, and they were also quite amazing but what we didn't know until we go the bill is that the crab legs were 99 dollars by themselves! Also I wish the shrimp pairing with the steak for the surf n turf came with more than 3 shrimps for the $12 I paid for them, and the broccoli on the side was barely steamed and felt more like I was eating raw broccoli. Expect to pay roughly $50-80 per person if you aren't trying to be as cheap as possible but also aren't all getting things like the King Crab legs. But aside from that I would definitely recommend this place if you're looking for a high quality meal and friendly staff!
Salad bar is 2nd to cork and cleaver. Still awesome.could tie if they had cavier. Ribeye and prime rib melt in mouth. Risotto perfect. Staff friendly. And waitress timed meal perfect. Steak is pricey but worth it
First time eating here and was not impressed at all. The food took forever, the serving dishes were dirty, including my Old Fashioned glass. I had Jambalaya, 3 friends had steak and 3 other friends had fish. Everyone was happy with the steaks, no one was happy with the fish. The fish was under cooked and not to temp in the middle. I guess we were the deciding table for the baked potatoes. One steak dish came with a baked potato and one fish dish did not because they were out. So I guess my friends steak dinner was the last baked in the house. I lived in New Orleans for a few years, my jambalaya was no where near where is should have been. It was more of an over cooked, dry, and sticky rice. I had to dig around for the andouille sausage. For the price of everything here, I would expect top notch dishes, $30 for my jambalaya, and it was a $12 dish at best. I will be returning at some point in the near future, I would love to get this place up to a 4 star, but I am doubting it after last night.
Today (Valentine's day) was our first time at Trolley. We were very pleased with everything! As soon as we walked in, we were graciously greeted by the sweetest gentlemen. He sat us and our server, Britt, arrived quickly to get our drink and appetizer order. Once those came out, she took our food order, which didn't take long to arrive at all. The food was delicious, the drinks were amazing (and also very pretty - see the edible glitter?!), service was beyond spectacular, and the place was very clean and easy to navigate. I've only ever heard great things about Trolley, and now I understand why! We will definitely be back!I also want to note that Britt was an exceptional server! She was so sweet and personable! She took time to talk with us and didn't make us feel rushed like some places do when it's a "special day". The food could have been just good, at best, and her personality would have made up for that! She was really great!
My wife and I had a table right next to the grill and we got a front row seat to tonight’s dinner service. The service was impeccable. Jordan was our server and he was very professional and friendly even while being very busy. The salad bar was fully stocked and had a lot of options, which my wife very much enjoyed. This is the reason for the 5 stars. The food was good but we had to wait over a hour for our dinners.. Big kudos to the Servers and management tonight.
Excellent service by our server Will. Food was fantastic. Mixed drinks were well poured, wine was full bodied. Steaks were cooked perfectly. Shrimp cocktail was good and chilled, however we would have liked the cocktail sauce to have some more heat with the horseradish, but that is just our taste. Overall, an excellent experience and we will return !
