Great German restaurant. I had the sausage sampler which was really good. Here on a Tuesday where they run a $3 beer special for a number of good beers on the menu. Devin was our waiter and he was excellent!

LOVE! Such fantastic food and atmosphere. Our server was friendly and recommendations were solid. The sausage appetizer with German potato salad and sauerkraut was SO YUMMY, as was the fried Bologna. The only negative was soggy rye bread (side leaked and the bread was sitting in it).

This restaurant serves authentic German fare that reminds me of the food my mother made for us growing up. It has been years since I had German potato salad like my mom’s, and it was wonderful. They also have a very good beer list, I happened to order one of the beers on the daily special list. It was a very good, stout German beer. My server was nice, and I really enjoyed the atmosphere in the restaurant. As I was dining alone, I asked if I could have a booth and they had a nice cozy booth that was just perfect. I felt like I could have spent longer in that restaurant had I had some good company and conversation. Very comforting atmosphere. As I was leaving, I saw a large family with children entering. They all looked so happy to be there, the kids merrily skipping to their seating, that I could tell they had been there many times before. Gerst Bavarian Haus is a restaurant with a community vibe to it - not just a place to eat, but also a place to enjoy friends’ or family members’ conversations and company.

I don’t even know where to begin. This is hands down the best German place I’ve tried in a while. The pretzel is humungous!! It definitely can feed 4 dudes! Last night I had the Beef stroganoff and some German beer to wash it down. Best I’ve ever had. Everything from this place was delicious. And I’m definitely coming back for more. I might even get a t-shirt next time.

Hidden gem and only full-service German restaurant located off Evansville's historic West Franklin Street. Menu is full of delicious German and American specialties. This establishment has fantastic Schnitzel.

Ordered the sausage sampler, which included knackwurst, bratwurst, kielbasa, and smoked "mett.” Also sampled the hot German potato salad and the white beans. Everything was fabulous, including the house-made mustard.

Hands down the coolest German restaurant/bar!! The kraut balls were nice and settle but the beef stroganoff was to die for!! Huge selection of beer. Great homemade food. We will definitely come back!! Maybe even tonight :-)

Love this place! Amazing food, awesome beer selection and great atmosphere with wonderful employees!!!

Everything is yummy here from food to drinks. Ethnic German food

Yeah. This place definitely is one of the top stops in Evansville. Its been around since 1890 for a reason! Interior is interesting, and well decorated. Big bar with plenty of selection. Very happy with the staff- great recommendations on drinks and food. Super helpful and quite nice. Decent selection of scotch, wine, drinks, and of course beer! We tried the pig knuckle for the appetizer, and were not dissapointed. Sauerbraten with sauerkraut was great, as was the sampler meal. I tried the pork chop, bratwurst and stroganoff (these were the recommended local dishes). All were tasty. I'd suggest the stroganoff to anyone who appreciates big chunks of meat and whole mushrooms. Red cabbage (awesome) and baked potatoes for sides. Almost everything was served with a couple slices of rye. No room for dessert, but will return. Prices were reasonable, especially for the amount and quality of food.
