My family came here with me from out-of-town and despite the place looking new and clean, I was not impressed with the food. We ordered a pizza that looked somewhat pretty upon arrival to our table, but the flavor was severely lacking. In fact, the cheese had a weird funk taste to it. The woman who delivered it to our table was not having a good night, as her attitude was quite abrupt. We were from out-of-town and are certainly spoiled with our pizza options out here in Chicagoland, but that pizza was bland. Most of service crew seemed friendly overall and considerate and our waitress did check (without our prompting-we were pretty patient because we knew it took time), to see where our pizza was. I think we waited about an hour? We were not complaining because we know cooking pizza properly takes time. This would be such a nice place if they tweaked their sauce and crust better where it tasted like an authentic, flavorful pizza, instead of having plain tomato sauce covering a flavorless yeast crust, with toppings. Also, get rid of that funky-tasting cheese. I do not recommend.
First time eating in the dining room. Almost no customers when we arrived. Barely saw our server despite waiting an hour for our pizza(had to go the bar at one point to get a drink). The only saving grace was that the food was very good. We will explore other options in the area in the future.
After placing a pickup order we had to wait at the drive thru window for several minutes for the girl to notice we were there, when a fellow employee motioned to her that we were waiting at the window, because she was against the window with her back turned. When we received our pizza, it tasted incredibly sweet. Our family then noticed that we had all YELLOW bell peppers, instead of the green peppers we had ordered. So I called and a girl said, we make a mix of yellow, red and green peppers and label it “green peppers”. I then told her we ordered green peppers because we wanted GREEN peppers. She passed the phone to her manager. He then informed me that green peppers are “out of season” and they only send him yellow peppers, so that’s what they are using for now. I told him that we ordered green peppers because we wanted green peppers, not red or especially yellow, since for us the yellow makes the pizza incredibly too sweet for us to eat. He did offer us a credit, but being that we were just passing through, it unfortunately was a loss of $30. The taste of the pizza itself was mediocre at best. Sauce was also very pasty and sweet. Had a taste as if dried Italian spices were just sprinkled over top. Expected way more from a $30 large pizza. Way overpriced. Go somewhere else and get two pizzas for this price. Not niche, no different than cheap chain pizzerias. Disappointed.
We almost didn’t eat here on Saturday due to the way we were treated at the beginning. We did a reservation online and the hostesses were very rude about it. They ended up telling us we reserved a bar table (even though the email said differently). Luckily we were all over 21.However, the food was 5 stars. The appetizers were good. The breadsticks were perfectly cooked. We customized our pizzas and loved it! Their crust was amazing and their toppings were fresh! For smaller eaters, 2 people could share a small.
My husband and I have been wanting to try this place for a while given the amount of reviews it has. We put it off every time we pull up the menu due to the prices. We finally ordered from here last night and were quite disappointed in the overall flavor of the food we got. I saw so many pictures of the popeye calzone so we ordered a small. It was so gross. American cheese, mozzarella, and raw Spinach. No marinara or any sauce to dip into it. Just such a weird texture and flavor combo. We also got a councilman pizza to try. I didn't taste much garlic but the meatball slices tasted like old burnt beef-a-roni. I had to scrape it off. The cupping pepperoni saved the day like the true hero it is. I do have to say though, that the crust and sauce was truly delicious and that we will be trying the pizza again (probably the pepperoni lovers one) and I will adjust my review when we do.
I love the crisp crust of GELSOSOMO’S PIZZERIA located in Crown Point,IN. It was golden brown and so delicious! The cheese was cooked perfectly to order & flavorful. Sauce very good. The pizza is reminiscent of the Old World oven baked recipe. I did not know what to expect when I walked in. The restaurant is a rather large space with enough seating for a multitude of people. It is nicely decorated and is a clean facility. The service was good and the server friendly. The wine so so. This is more of a friends n family/ party venue rather than an intimate dating place. I would definitely recommend for the best pizza! There are many selections available to choose from plus lots of side dishes as well.
The pizza is excellent here and they have a nice selection of food and brews.
BBQ chicken pizza is the best!!
Service was great! The food was good. The deep dish pizza was exactly what all the reviews said the sauce was way too sweet. Otherwise it would have been amazing. The appetizers were the same old fried veggies. The beer list is pretty good here.
Great service…as always!!!
