READ THE OTHER RECENT REVIEWS BEFORE GOING (unlike what we did). THIS PLACE IS A ‘HARD PASS.’ SERVICE WAS NON-EXISTENT AND FOOD IS NOT WORTH THE PRICE OR WAIT. ??♂️??♂️??♂️TRY SOMEWHERE ELSE, YOU WON’T BE MISSING OUT. We’ve been here a few times with pretty meh experiences ?. Consider some of our other fav Mexican restaurants in the area that can really show up on quality and experience: Social Cantina (Carmel), Mi Hacienda (Carmel), LOS AGAVES (Westfield, NOT to be confused with this restaurant), Chuy’s (Castleton)2/5 stars since only 1 of us in our party liked their food. We were a party of 5 on a Saturday for lunch with a lot of events going on in the downtown Carmel area. We were one of 2 tables on a really nice summer day (that alone probably should have been a sign). It took probably 20 ish mins before we were able to order - not only were we not seeing our server, we weren’t seeing ANYONE. Was not able to order a drink because no one was around. Food took a pretty long time to come out which is kinda whatever but the 2 fajitas came out essentially room temperature. One of our entrees came out probably 10-15 mins after everyone else got their food - server said nothing about this. Food was very meh.
If I could give this place zero stars I would. My chimichanga was burned crisp on the outside, and I couldn’t eat it because it was so salty that it tasted like somebody had poured a whole bottle of salt on it. The waitstaff only speaks broken English so half the time they don’t understand what you are saying. They never offered to remake my meal they just offered to take it off my check. Then they charged my boyfriend double for his drink. They charged him $8 dollars when it should’ve only been $4 dollars. I have never seen a more poorly ran outfit in my life. They have a tiny, crowded dining area in which the staff are running around past your table the whole time you are eating. Some of the tables are only within inches of the front door. This place is a fire hazard waiting to happen. I left hungry and disappointed. Don’t waste your time going to this place. The reviews speak for themselves. We will never go back.
There were four of us in our party and we started out as the only people in the restaurant. We ordered a large quest and had to ask for it three separate times. I ordered a virgin margarita and they brought me a regular margarita with tequila. When I sent it back they told me they could only do a frozen non alcoholic margarita so I got that and it was horrible, extremely tangy and sour. But I didn’t say anything about the quality of the non alcoholic margarita. Then we ordered our food and it took an abnormally long time to come out. Our waiter had been seated a few more tables, nothing unmanageable and you could tell he was stressed. He cane back to get our checks and had the checks all wrong and it took him about 30 min to bring them. I asked if my non alcoholic margarita was in fact $13 (more than my meal) and he assured me that he would just take it off my bill. Then when he came back with the bills he flat out told me that he couldn’t take it off or discount it. there was no arguing with him and there didn’t seem to be a manager working to that I could talk to. I will not be going back to this place due to the poor service alone.
We enjoyed the burritos and Arroz con Pollo. Generous portions and very tasty.
If you’re looking for a nice, authentic Mexican restaurant to enjoy a fun family night, look no further than Agave Bar and Grill in Carmel. Weather permitting, there’s outdoor dining to enjoy your food along the sidewalk and enjoy the scenes of Carmels Art District.Once inside, the quaint space is decorated by wall art by students from the local high school which adds a nice touch. The bar is fully stocked with your favorite tequilas, bourbons, cognacs and vodkas AND they’re not stingy with the alcohol on the drinks! When it came to the food I enjoyed the sopes, tacos and chips & salsa. I was asked if I liked my salsa hot and it was so bold and flavorful. The owner Cindy, even was helping her staff prepare food and drinks which shows great leadership from the top.I highly recommend going and when you visit, tell them your favorite #travelingfoodieguyde @zonedoutmarkiss sent you and tag me in the pics :)
I'm torn with this review! Once upon a time this restaurant was in my "sweet spot, hurry up let's get there" rolodex. This last visit really made me wonder. Service was fine, wait staff got us seated and drinks ordered lickety split! We placed our food order and that's when it went sideways, not downhill, just sideways. Maybe it was the patron seated next to our table who was coughing/hacking incessantly. I knew I was going to use that word today! Maybe it was the emptiness feeling of the upstairs dining room area. Cold night? None the less, my Camerones Diabla had plenty of fire, maybe a tad bit too much. Couldn't taste the Camerones after the 3 one. My wife order was done great. Hers tasted better than mine ? ? All in all I gave the experience a solid 3!
We were visiting but our in town friends enjoy eating here often. Serviceable as expected good for a decent price.
Cool space, great service and we really enjoyed our food and drinks. Chilequiles, chimichangas and fajitas! The Paloma and Margaritas were tasty as well. Enjoy!
Delightfully quick service from a knowledgeable server. Our dinners were delicious. My husband appreciated the shrimp fajitas...fresh and light.
Our waitress was fantastic, and I wish I remembered her name. She was prompt, accommodating, and put up with our chilly family determined to sit outside because a member of our party was too young to be vaccinated. The food, however, left a lot to be desired. The prices were incredibly high for the portions received, and the flavor was disappointing. To be fair, the first two pages of the menu were alcoholic, so it's likely the food would have tasted better after a margarita or two, but I was driving.
