The food was fantastic; the impossible chili was impossibly good (got to get that recipe), the BLT was the best vegan sandwich my wife has ever had, plus the fries were great! The atmosphere was inviting, the workers present, and there were cute little owl pictures/carvings/statues all over.A great discovery and a place we'll be back to for sure.
My husband and I both have dietary restrictions and have found The Owlery to be a safe place for both of us to have multiple options for dinner. We ordered the poutine as an appetizer. I was not a fan of the gravy (I tasted the thickener they use and was left feeling sick) but my husband loved it, despite the nondairy cheese (which he usually hates). My main dish was unfortunately tainted by the fries, but was great as leftovers the next day!The service was sub par. Our server rarely checked on us and we were left without something to drink for most of our main course.
Out of town from Michigan and had to try this all veg restaurant. Did not disappoint! I got the peanut stir fry and it was good. The fish and chips tasted and had similar texture to fish. A person's meal came put later than the rest of ours and they gave him a beer on the house.
Wow! I'm borderline vegetarian LOL but my friend is a fullon vegetarian and we both really loved this placeAtmosphere, service, and the FOOD !! It was all amazing !!
Generally speaking it's the only game in town that I know of. Pure vegetarian options. Nice cozy little spot downtown. My only complaint is that I get an attitude from the staff from time to time. That I can do without. I am in and out typically for one item on the behalf of a friend. Usually no wait, no other customers, yet sometimes it feels like I get the "Ugh... What do you want?" attitude as if I don't belong there. I haven't eaten inside since the new owners took over which was years ago. Can't speak for the new dine in experience.
Yesterday I went to pick up an order. I used to get three fish tacos and I was surprised when I opened the container and found two instead. This is a pricey meal (adding the required taxes and tip). The fish tacos were not the same as before either. I called to ask about it and was informed that yes indeed, they reduced the number of tacos from 3 to 2. The person who gave me the information over the phone was rude. Also, the side dish (sweet potato) was minimal. I am not a big eater but this meal was really sad looking and highly priced. Disappointed. This used to be my place to go. Certainly not anymore.
so yummy! we had a party of 7 and they had open seating to fit us, which was super convenient. the service was really fast and our server was super nice. he noticed that it was someone’s birthday in our group and let them have a free treat! the food was also great for being vegetarian. (I had the reuben with sweet potato fries and it was awesome.) would def recommend.
One of the best meals I’ve had in a long time. My girlfriend is vegan and very rarely does she have so many options to choose from! The coconut macadamia tofu was to die for. The best tofu I’ve ever had. I got the peanut veggie bowl for my main, and I’m not kidding you, I would bathe in that peanut sauce. SO GOOD.
EXCELLENT FOOD AND EXCELLENT SERVICE! I came here multiple times during my weekend visit to Bloomington and I was seriously impressed with this place! I think it might be my favorite restaurant in all of Indiana! In the first picture you have the nachos which were AMAZING! In the second picture you have the chicken and mashed potatoes with gravy, also very good!!! In the last picture, you have the vegan Benedict (brunch menu only) and it was very good! I was pleased with how similar these vegan options were to normal food! I was also pleased with the service every time I went to dine out here!I HIGHLY recommend this restaurant and I hope they are in Bloomington forever! ❤️
The Owlery is one of the best veg friendly restaurants in Bloomington, Indiana. Their cold brew is to die for and very fairly priced as well. They fresh bake their baked goods daily. I have also tried the seitan sandwich and the Mac and cheese and both were spectacular! The environment is very cozy and relaxed with natural lighting and staff are very friendly and accommodating
