Finally made it to Southern Stone after reading rave reviews of it on "Bloomington Foodies" page on Fb. I had the Sweet Tea Fried Chicken and hubby had the Pimento Cheese Mac n Cheese with a Crab Cake thrown on top for good measure. Cheese grits and fried okra accompanied my chicken and we both had iced tea to drink. Fried chicken was interesting. Hubby loved it, I probably will not order it again. Grits were awesome and okra was good but didn't taste much different than any other deep-fried vegetable. The mac n cheese was VERY good, and the crab cake had wonderful consistency however I felt it had a "fishy" flavor more than a crab flavor. Hubby loved it also. We will return as the menu is very extensive and the open/airy venue is very inviting and very chill. I can see exactly why this place is a favorite for college/business/casual diners.

Such a great place! We love it! Anna did a great job!

Awesome modern take on southern classics. They make a Last Word cocktail but with mezcal instead of gin. Their pimento cheese starter is excellent with fried naan and jalapeno in the dip. I ordered the filet mignon which was cooked perfectly and the side Cesar salad has an excellent dressing. The garlic mashed potatoes are a little too garlicky. My wife ordered the crab cakes which were fine but the least favorite of everything we ordered. We'll have to come back for dessert some time as the list looked amazing but we were too full. Lastly, not sure if they were down a server but it took awhile to get served. Our server was amazing though and gave great suggestions.

Overall very good experience. Bartender/Server was fantastic. Drinks were spot on and he was prompt when we needed anything. Food was good, but it just didn't wow as a first customer!

Really great food and service. Would definitely go back.

The hospitality was good. I ordered the shrimp and grits. The tomato flavor was too strong. The grits were cooked well but lacked seasoning. Also, the dish had way too many peppers, and onions. They weren't seasoned either. The portion size was great but this dish wasn't good. Nothing was seasoned. For the cost of the meal, I would try something else on the menu.Last thing, I ordered a cup of coffee. It was old! My waitress told me I had to wait for her to brew a fresh pot....didn't happen. At four bucks a cup, you should get a fresh cup of coffee. On to the next restaurant....

The food was excellent and so was the service!!

Great - Nick & everyone provided a nice meal.

Sunday brunch is always amazing, good drink specials and food too. Can be loud sitting outside but still enjoyable.

Key Lime needs to come off the menu; it was cake. Don’t order it if you expect pie
