This is incredible gem in Bloomington that I have never been before. The prices were very reasonable too.
Wasn't fond of new menus at all. Portion size a lot smaller too. Cup of gravy was like receiving communion. Very disappointed. Waitress Ava was wonderful. Kudos to her.
Apparently Cracker Barrel restaurants allow not even minor deviations from the menu, regardless. The entre I ordered came with 4 pieces of chicken. I could not select all dark or all white meat, nor could I refuse some pieces I would not eat. Apparently cost save deviations in their behalf are also not permitted. I think this business model needs reasonable flexibility. I also was not impressed by the chicken. The dinner came with corn bread. I prefer cornbread that is a little sweet. This wasn't. But, it wasn't bad. My sides were mac & cheese, and green beans. The green beans were good, and the mac & cheese was perfect. The waitress said the mac and cheese was popular.
The food is always delicious but the service is what really makes this place great. Gavin was our waiter and he is hands down the best waiter I’ve ever had, ANYWHERE! He was polite, diligent, funny, and my daughter adored him. People like him are what service should always be like. ♥️
Good food and great server-good job
We ordered on line, knowing it would be very busy on Mother's day. We have use this option several times with great success on every level, great taste, on time as promised, great service. Unfortunately this time the food was marginal at best. The main dishes were good but the sides were not. We ordered the pot roast dinner with gravy but there was no gravy, its a small thing but important thing. On the other order, the pepper taste on the sides was so strong I couldn't eat them. We will order again but not soon.
Got seated quick for a Sunday. Waitress was friendly but that's where the good experience ended. The food was bland, yet over cooked. My wife got the meatloaf with mashed potatoes and dumplings. The meatloaf was slightly burned in a small area that was easily able to be eaten around, the potatoes were needing salt and looked dry, and the dumplings had like 3 large dumplings and watered down gravy.I had ordered the fried chicken tenders, with dumplings and Mac & Cheese. The Tenders we're slightly over cooked and rubbery, the Mac and Cheese needed a little more salt not a lot, and the dumplings, like my wife's there was maybe 4 or 5 large dumplings and the gravy was watered down. They were out of strawberry jelly, the waitress never offered to fill our waters but did offer to give us large cups for to go drinks. When checking out, I was going to express my concern because you're normally asked "how was your meal". Since the cashier counter was busy the Retail Manager checked us out. Offers to upsale us on M&Ms over worried if the meal was good.It was able to be eaten but it was far below standards for Cracker Barrel. This was an out of town visit for us and if we decide to go back to the area, it will not include a stop at this Cracker Barrel.
great food great staff !!
Hot and fresh! Southern Fried Chicken with extra gravy, loaded baked potato, dumplings and Mac and cheese. Also chose melt-in-your-mouth hot biscuits. Hot tea w/ honey! Went with a few other girlfriends and my 7yr old granddaughter. Excellent time together!!!
I always love their chicken and dumplings because they're the only ones that could make them anywhere near as good as my grandmother. The helping was good, the flavor was not quite as good very little chicken which doesn't really bother me cuz I love the dumplings but there was really no salt on it at all. The place was not busy but when I wanted to check out I had to go looking for a waitress to get my server. It used to be one of my favorite places for home cooked food but again like every other place, they're changing everything on their menus. And the hash brown casserole had a few of the crispy hash browns on top of the center was nothing but mashed potatoes.
