Diner Guy here took Diner Gal out for her birthday and we had a great time at Bob Chin's. BIG SHOUT OUT to our server J.D. steering us the right way, great guy, genuine and lots of fun.Got the deep fried sea bass and could not have been happier. Diner gal got the Snow Crab and was in the zone.Great service and Delicious food.
Keith was an excellent server and taught my work team so much about seafood. Being from Arizona this was my first time at a long established fish house. first time having crab fingers with pasta. They were amazing and I highly recommend.
Been a minute since last here, but my lady loves seafood and they still never disappoint in service, speed, attentiveness, clean and especially outstanding food!! Fresh as a restaurant right on the ocean, but thousands of miles from sea!! The garlic bread ? was fantastic!! Vampires stay hundred miles from this place! We started with bacon ? wrapped scallops and crab cake nuggets….both were so satisfying and properly warming up the main stars here: She had the lobster roll and I had Virginia soft shell crabs ?, but very delicious! Large chunks of lump meat in a toasted bread boat with just enough sauce to allow the lobster to be the sweet star of show! The soft shell crabs were lightly battered and absolutely delicious!! I would strongly suggest reservations, but our bar tables worked very well!! Our condolences for the legend’s passing Bob passed away about month ago…..his legacy is still honoring his memory with exceptional service and food!!
Food was absolutely delicious! Nice size portions. The restaurant was exceptionally clean inside and out. Our waiter’s name was J.D. He provided excellent service. Our drinks were really good as well.
Overall, still my favorite restaurant. Menu is significantly smaller than pre-Covid, but still a good variety. Everything was prepared wonderfully and very tasty. Not at all busy, so can see their business has not quite returned. Service was good. Prices are significantly higher than in the past, but I believe that is just the new trend in food prices in general.
Party of 6 birthday dinner. The prices have increased dramatically. The portions cut down substantially. Barely 4 fresh fish options (NONE with O’hare flight status confirming the air frighted seafood from around the globe) vs. years ago offering well over a couple DOZEN fresh fish choices! THAT brought people! Empty lobster tanks. No famous (yet kinda enjoyable) waiting lines due to the covid distancing reservation system enacted. Its lacks the vibe, energy, DESIRE-ABILITY it once held for decades. Its not the same without Bob nor ‘post’ covid. The most expensive items king crab and fillet $200 was the tastiest. The traditional garlic rolls are not the same. Originals quite light fluffy with garlic marinated olive oil and parsley were simple and popular. Now, crazy potent and too much oil and hard-ish bread now. The famous & STRONG Mai-Tais are now WEAK, flavorless, if not ofd tasting. We sent 5 of them back. The replacements, too! FOR over $700, rather go to Texas de Brazil with 6 people for HALF Bob Chins! Why!? Because there is more LAND-food offerings vs SEAfood offerings now. The Chinn daughters are riding a down bound train. Unfortunately for us 4 decade patrons no longer interested in the shell of its former self is it is now.
amazing food quality and service! Who needs. Boston FIsh when you Have the best at Chinns!! fresh never frozen fish and always the highest quality around. Reservations are recommended but not needed.
Probably because of covid-19 the menu is smaller, the salad bar is closed and the hours have been reduced. The food and service is still excellent but, inflation especially in the seafood market has affected the prices but, I will still return in the future.
Exceptional taste. Seems a bit pricey for some of the items, but overall a great place to visit even mid afternoon for a bite. Huge interior. Very friendly staff and great service.
