Went to Chicago for my birthday trip with the husband and kids. Husband and I had reservations for 8pm. Didn’t know they closed that early but the site let you select that time. Reservations is recommended or you’ll be waiting. I didn’t like how that bunch tables anywhere to pack people in. I was too close to other tables and the hosted desk. The food was ok I’ve had better. The best thing was the seafood gumbo. Husband had a meal with oysters and got sick after we left. I will try again one day maybe in Houston or Louisiana next time.
Wait is quite long, BUT FOR A REASON! Always make reservation, and even then you need to wait. But Pappadeaux is out of this world. I don't have much experience of Cajun-style food, but this was a great intro! First time tried Alligator, it was fried, so I couldn't taste it that good, but I'd say it reminds me of white meat - chicken.. It had good sauce with it and I felt good trying something exotic like that for the first time. Shrimp and Crawfish Fondeaux was pure skill in cooking, such a rich dish that was great choice. For entrees we had difficult time since there were many options on the menu. I ended up taking crawfish platter, the crawfish ETOUFFEE was amazing, super tasty. Rice was also different than how I usually eat it. Tried a bit of Lobster as well, it was soo fresh with perfect amount of spices and butter. Seafood pasta had like whole menu on a single plate and it was well combined! Finished the meal with fudge brownie, for which I didn't have huge expectations, but it was on the same level as seafood!This restaurant is really special, especially having this kind of restaurant in MidWest! 10/10 recommendation to Pappadeaux. Always busy always good!
Haven't been here in way too long, so glad we went. I recall the food and service being excellent and still is. We tried a lot of items so the bill was on the higher side but it's our choice. The shrimp and crayfish fondeaux is an old favorite of mine as are the stuffed shrimp. They were super busy at 7 pm but service was prompt and very good. Highly recommend.
Made a reservation here to celebrate two birthdays. Waited less than 5 min for our table to be ready which was surprising since it was very busy with graduation season. Our server Devin was super helpful & attentive. He helped give us recommendations on what to drink & eat when I couldn't decide. Food was delicious & brought out quick. I had the pasta with shrimp, lump crab, & scallops in a white wine sauce that was very filling and the Hennessey margarita drink. Definitely will be back again.
Make sure you have a reservation or your going to be waiting for a while. Once we sat down and ordered our food came pretty fast. The waitress is very helpful if needed. Once the food came out tasted delicious with some spice. I've had gator before and this did not taste like it but still good.
I've been here a couple times, in Illinois and in Texas. Pleased with the food, atmosphere, and server.Food was great, nice sized portions and great flavors. I like atmosphere of this location, nice space, it didn't feel crowded, although eating at 3-4 hour was perfect timing. Server was great, nice attitude and attentive and friendly. I would recommend this place.
Definitely will be coming back to this place!!?? Perfect for a date night, prefect for family dinner (if u banked like that) & prefect for a self care retreat. I LOVE IT!!!???? I cant believe I've never been here before. I think I got a glimpse of heaven. I came for my birthday dinner, and definitely a great decision. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is because our server was so busy that she kept forgetting my drink that I ordered. I asked 2 times if the bar could make me an expresso martini, which she was unsure of and said she would check. By the time our food was done it was too late to remind her a 3rd time. It was unfortunate I couldn't enjoy a drink with my awesome meal.
