Excellent bbq and drinks (Big Ed’s brew was so good)! This was our first time here, Big Ed came over and talked with us. Super friendly! Can’t wait to go back!

Absolutely delicious. Every bite was heaven. The macaroni and cheese was the best and coleslaw was perfect. Loved the original bbq sauce. Sweet heat sauce was good too. Seriously go eat there!!!!
First I’ll start off saying the staff was very friendly, and inviting upon entering the establishment. Now to the best part, the food. I’m from Indiana, and was searching for food while I’m in town. I stumbled upon Big Ed’s and its great reviews. I mean who doesn’t love good barbecue? I told my family we have to try this, and so we did. Last night was my first time, and I thoroughly enjoyed my choices. Although my first choices weren’t available due to the proximity of closing time and when I arrived. The ribs were tender and full of flavor. The sides were to die for. And the complimentary corn muffin is the icing on the metaphorical cake. Today I HAD to stop back in before I hit the road back home. Consistency is another word I would like to use to describe this place. Food was great once again for “Brunch.” Very satisfied. I will be back again.
First timer...I learned they don't take phone orders. Once inside, people form a line hoping their choices are still available.. It's amazing how fast they sell out massive amounts of food! Great reputation earned since 2007 brings a wide range of diners. People in front of me drove from Hammond, IN!Sold out Items are written on a white board. I made quick substitutions that were delicious. Nothing was over spiced or overpriced.Closed on Mondays. If they close at 7PM, I suggest getting there before 5:30PM. Signature pulled pork can sellout by 6PM!I'll definitely return & dine-in.
Drove 70 miles just to try this place, and let me tell you it was well worth it. I’m not not a huge fan of ordering at the counter because I’m lazy and like to be waited on for that reason. I usually stay away from places that operate that way, but I’m happy to make an exception for Big Ed’s. I did not have BBQ because when I saw catfish on the menu I had to have it—I always get catfish whenever I can can, and it did not disappoint. The sides, including the corn muffins, were mouth-watering and no doubt perfected over time with much love and care. The line was long, so be prepared to wait, but don’t let that scare you away. They moved the line along at a good pace, and the staff were friendly, kind, and service minded. I can’t wait to go back for more!
My mouth is watering thinking about their BURNT ENDS! Worth the cost… they melt in your mouth and are seasoned and cut to perfection.I also love their mashed potatoes, Mac and cheese, cornbread muffins (they’re perfectly sweet), and sweet potatoes! I’m not a big BBQ sauce person but I love their sauces too!I love that they are black owned and always helping locals in the community! I will always support them before anyone else in the area! There is no competition here!
Big Ed’s is seriously the best BBQ in Lake County. The ribs are so succulent that you don’t need the delicious house sauces - but try them anyway! The portions are large and filling, the atmosphere is friendly and welcoming. Big Ed and the staff are amazing! The sides are worth it on their own - Try the Lawd Ham Mercy baked beans, or the Big Tony Mac N Cheese. If they haven’t sold out already, get that key lime pie!! A little more expensive, yes, but the ingredients are fabulous and the staff is treated well. I respect Big Ed’s as much as I love eating there!
For me this is a long trip. Whenever i get up north near great america i ALWAYS stop in to Big Eds BBQ. Great food. Great service. The brisket is always on point. I recently branched out to the burnt ends and they were great as well. The greens were also very good but only available on weekends. I wish the portion was bigger. Great BBQ sauce options...6 to choose from try the memphis style! My wife loves the mac n cheese and the lumpy chocolate cake. Great spot if your up north.
Everyone there is so friendly and knowledgeable. The food is all so tasty. I recommend you get 1 or 2 things end then work your way around the menu. Otherwise you will explode.
