The only place to go to in this area if you want real Japanese food, not just sushi rolls or fried food, teppanyaki, etc. I had the tsukemono appetizer (Japanese fresh pickled vegetables) with cold soba and a side of aburage (fried and mirin-soaked tofu). Everything was very good with authentic Japanese taste. Very refreshing on a hot day. I only take one star off because it was expensive, but I can't really complain because you can't get this kind of food anywhere else nearby. You'd have to drive all the way to Mitsuwa in Arlington Heights for anything close to this.

Glad I found this gem of a spot! The rolls were so good but the sleeping turtle and salmon lovers were our faves. One of the few good sushi spots in the area!

We have gone first to the original Sushi Kushi on Lake Forest when it was still a small restaurant. It expanded and when Sushi Kushi San3 opened we were there since it's was closer to where we lived. It was awesome for many years. However, the last year has been awful. First they concentrated on take out orders over tables. We waited over 45 minutes for a single sushi order while the staff prepared to go orders and the woman at the front counter disappeared. We waited a few months and went back, only to again have the service just as bad due to togo others and again, the woman that seemed to have been in charge disappeared. This time, the sushi was just okay, not the usual quality. This last time, today, again the service was bad until I got upset. Good was just okay for a usually superb restaurant and the woman this time spent need whole time taking immediate orders and hanging out with her friends table rather than taking care of the restaurant. After almost 30 years we won't be going back.

It's always fine in person, but God forbid you call to ask what to order online. The woman I spoke to literally would not help me pinpoint what dish I was looking for no matter how much I described it. She she said there were too many items on the menu and then said I don't know how to talk to Asian people. My best partner in life is Asian, and we have literally eaten there 20+ times. If you can't do your job, I guess I don't need your business. -Signed one hungry mother and her kids

I have been eating it there since it opened. It used to be one of the best places to eat Sushi. Now it's just average and the service is only fair.

I wish I could pronounce the stuff we ate. I know the chicken and tempura bento box was filled with great noodles, tempura shrimp and veggies, teriyaki chicken. The miso was cloudy and tasty, the ginger salad was very fresh and flavorful! Will return!!

Like most establishments theses days, they had serious staffing issues. Our sushi was very good but received a completely burnt order of pot stickers. Will probably give some time to try again.

Came here yesterday food tasted good but later in the evening I realized I ate some bad fish and got food poisoning. Be aware the fish isn’t fresh here and dangerous to consume.

We're regular customers at Sushi Kushi San3 for a reason! All the food is fantastic & consistent each time we go, and the staff is knowledgeable & prompt. Presentation of the meals is also very nice and "Insta" worthy. They care about the small details and it shows. If ordering take out, the containers are prepared very carefully with Scotch tape holding items in place that usually fly around in the car (like soy sauce). We take friends and family here all the time! Don't hesitate to do the same!Note: We usually try to go during less-popular hours to avoid the crowd.

I love their sushi selection!
