Tonight my sister and I dined at the Roti in Vernon Hills and witnessed some of the most atrocious behavior I have ever witnessed from a customer who was being so aggressive and rude we were honestly scared to be there. He was literally screaming at this poor man and demanding a phone number for a supervisor because he wanted 8 servings of food. I wanted to commend the employee handling the situation (he had long hair in a bun) because the customer was out of control and screaming and the man kept his composure and kept the situation from becoming worse than it could have been.
Update: The food was really good, even though I had one bad experience at this location. (See below.) The staff did reach out and I feel confident that things will improve, so I've changed my rating from 1 star to 4 stars. I usually really enjoy this restaurant and I am looking forward to returning in the future. 5/11/2022****When I first came to this location several months ago, I really enjoyed the food. I went Saturday evening at 8pm (the site said they closed at 8, but apparently, they closed at 9). I could not believe when the young guy who rung me up, used his dirty gloved hand to offer me a free pita (after touching the register AND pulling down his mask to scratch his nose!) What is the point in being sanitary, with gloved hands and masks, when your habits are disgusting? I read that someone got food poisoning after visiting this location and I can see how this can happen here. Yikes!
If I could zero stars I'd do so!!I had a large order for a corporate lunch and contacted the appropriate person via email to inquire about food allergies. No response (even to this day!) even though I gave them plenty of time to respond.Called the Vernon Hills location and no one answered and left a message as the voicemail message said to do so and someone would get back to me. Still waiting! I guess their work ethic reflects the corporate culture of being unresponsive to customer needs!!This was the first time I've wanted to order from Roti, but I guess I won't be Iin the future!!First impression a very bad impression that begs the question about the entire customer experience!! Plus, reading the comments about how salty the food is and others' poor experiences, why should I bother when there are so many options in Vernon Hills. I guess they are doing so well, salty food and poor customer experience, they can forgot a corporate order for 15 hungry executives!!
Used to be great. The menu change is extremely disappointing. I used to get the fire and rice and the lack of steak, which was the best food they had, makes no sense to me. I have no reason to eat here anymore since they don't have my regular order. The high school kids working here all seem to have attitudes too (I understand it's hard to find good help so I'm more upset about the changed menu than poor service).
Staff is friendly, food is excellent. Fresh olives, feta, peppercini, etc. Chicken perfectly grilled. Nicely cooked pita. If you like Mediterranean food, this place can't be beaten for a quick, inexpensive lunch.
I LOVE eating at Roti, the staff is so friendly and always get my order right! Tony is THE BEST- amazing personality & great energy! 10/10 would recommend
Tony was amazing & so kind, such a great employee! Ive been coming since the beginning & the food there is always delicious! I am quite sad about the menu change though you guys did get rid of some great things:( I also wish you guys would make it so that I was able to get more scoops of feta &/or peta crunches if I didn’t get any other side! I feel like the bowls got a lot less fuller than before but nonetheless it’s still good food! Shout out to Tony for making the environment in there feel so friendly & caring!
Great alternative to all the other fast food options in the area. Nice sized portions and friendly staff. Had the 'Balls of Fire' and a side of falafel ... Surprisingly light but filling dinner after having a very early breakfast and working through (skipping) lunch.
Food was very good! My paper gift card wasn’t working but the manager straightened it out. Him and his team were very helpful. Will definitely go back!
I was extremely frustrated with the new app and wasn’t able to order ahead. When I arrived I became disappointed that they did not have salmon for my husband and out of a few sides. After being aggravated a bit Tony the manager made it all right and encouraged me to come back! Either way Roti will be getting an email about their new app functionality!
