Been to this location many times. Fantastic employees (kudos to the lady at Portillo’s that is super enthusiastic!). Food is so tasty- house salad dressing is amazing, veg dog is the best veg dog I’ve ever had (store or restaurant bought). Will be going back again!
This will always be the best place for cheese fries in the entire world.I highly recommend this is a place to meet big groups of friends since everyone can order independently. You will never need to figure out the bill at the end.Everything here is a classic and it's all delicious, fast and consistent.
Not too shabby! My husband and I moved to Chicago Nov of 2021, and we have been hearing about “Chicago staples” since then so we gave this a try.Really fun interior design, plenty of seating, and the place seems to stay busy - which is a nice change given all the quiet of the past two years.Service is pretty efficient for the number of orders they take.We really came for the Chicago style Polish, but I forgot to mention the “Chicago style” so we ended up with their other polish sausage, with grilled onion and mustard. I personally wouldn’t order it again, and next time we’ll be sure to tell them Chicago style.Their burger was great, so much better than a lot of other popular chains right now. We both enjoyed sharing it and would recommend it. Only issue, the bun got soggy very quickly, which isn’t a big issue in my mind, cuz I tend to get rid of the bread anyway.Fries were good; a bit too salty. We saw the many recommendations for the cheese sauce, and that was a bit of nostalgia. It reminded me of going to sporting events as a child, and the cheese sauce they would serve with everything.The chopped salad was nice too. Very fresh, love that they give you dressing on the side even for dine in orders, as it is better to not have a soggy, overly saturated salad.Overall, we were happy. We definitely will be back for burgers and beer, and hopefully a Chicago style sausage next time around.
I live in Texas but grew up in Illinois and this place is a must when I'm in town. Love the food and atmosphere. I wish there was one near me in Texas!

Since my last share of this location they've definitely stepped up their game.Used to be if you ordered a salad it would have you waiting in the spaces around the corner for your pick up at least 5 minutes longer than anything else on the menu. Not anymore!Also, everything has gotten faster in the drive-thru as well as inside. This location has a well oiled machine for a team now.As far as being in the fast food category, Portillos is always the leader,,,, but the team working they way they have deserves 5 stars!!!!Great job!!! Keep it up!!!
Visit this place every time we are back in Illinois. Nothing like it in lower AL. They should open one! Love the chopped chicken salad, hotdogs, Italian Beef. And, don't get me started on the chocolate cake and lemon cake...ridiculously good!
Portillos used to be my favorite cheeseburger. Not any more. Last week I got a burger that was cold- the cheese didn’t even melt. When my husband took it to counter to give feedback, there were at least 50 burgers lying under the grill and 20 more in boxes, waiting to go out. Guess they are not made to order anymore - at least not in Vernon Hills location. Won’t be visiting there again soon.
Not the. Vernon Hills location. I ordered three Italian beefs. The beefs were watered down with no flavor. I called the restaurant and was asked what's wrong. I explained. Not that it totally matters about not receiving gift cards but the $30.00 that I spent matters. Shameful and never again in Vernon Hills, IL...that location is nearest to my home. Bye...
One of the greatest staple food joints in the Chicago area. Everytime I'm near one of them I make sure to stop by for a bite to eat. From their burgers, shakes and desserts there's really no way to go wrong as everything is made fresh in an assembly line manner.
