We wanted to try this place to support local business vs chains. I’m sad to say it was disappointing after reading so many positive reviews. I was spoiled growing up with really great family restaurants and my opinion may not hold true for others but the food here is lackluster. I’ve never had a dry tamale until today. The tamales are tiny and have almost no meat to it. The kids loved the nachos with meat. They charge extra for the peppers. The horchata doesn’t have the right flavor-it’s the premix very watered down and still over $2 a cup. Overall I feel like everything is overpriced for what you get. I honestly wasn’t going to write a review and I’d just choose to go to other local places next time but what really got me is their lack of response when my daughter knocked her cup over on me and all over the floor. Don’t get me wrong, I take full responsibility for that happening and I don’t expect people to clean up after my family or offer a refill for a spilt drink. I always do my best to keep restaurants clean-I was a waitress and hated people that trashed the place so I do what I can to take care of the workers and help keep it clean to ease their day. We were the only people in there and they were literally staring at me using the napkins to wipe up the table, the floor, the chairs, my jeans were dripping with the juice and they didn’t bring a rag or mop. I spent 10 minutes using cheap napkins to clean up the area so I could then sit down and finish eating the overpriced flavorless food. I won’t be back. And I won’t ever tip ahead of my meal again unless I know the food and service is good.

It is an authentic Mexican restaurant that is a must-go-to place in the area. The food here was delicious and definitely authentic. I was looking for a good restaurant for lunch, and when I saw this one, I did not hesitate to come in. A very nice, comfortable, casual, and, at the same time, lovely vibe welcomed me. The restaurant also has the nicest, friendliest, most accommodating staff. It also smelled good inside, to the point that I felt really hungry, so I immediately ordered food. The menu has a good option. Based on their menu, the prices were also fair and reasonable. I only ordered their king steak burrito and some quesadillas, and minutes later I was already eating it. The service was really quick in this restaurant, and the food was always hot. The burrito has a nice portion. It is big because it was their king burrito, but I guess their food really has a huge portion because the quesadilla that I also ordered was somehow huge too. When it comes to the flavor, I could just simply say that it was delicious. Everything was on point. The burrito was good. The steak and every single ingredient in the burrito just literally melted in my mouth. It tasted really good because it was very fresh. I would say it is a must-visit place not only because the food was delicious but also for many other reasons. The reasons are that it has a nice location with a lot of parking. The ambiance in the restaurant was great. The prices are reasonable. Most importantly, the service is outstanding.

The worst torta I have ever eaten!!! One very small very thin and very dry piece of meat. They lucky I was limited on time for lunch. I didn't have time to go back and complain. Never going back again!!! Wish I could rate this zero stars. I don't recommend this place to anyone.

The staff was great and knowledgeable of their menu and was able to give recommendations. They have fair prices for their quality of food. The options are great and there are lots of them. Definitely worth coming to!

Their breakfast plates are amazing. Just what I needed today. Thank you!

The food their is great and delicious real Mexican food and always made fresh. The only problem is that their is this Mexican old lady that’s always on the register she always gives me and my family rude service and never listens to us. She’s always very cheap with the ketchup and sauce if you ask for more she will only give you 1 and I asked for more sauce a guy was handing me some and she took two away from him how rude is that. Now we are going to give business to another restaurant. Also we have been going their for years even when it’s used to be El famous burrito.

Really good tacos.... and the horchata was really good too.. not too sweet or cinamee lol.

Great place and great food. The most authentic burrito place around.

Food here never disappoints. I frequently came here a few years ago for my lunch from work and fell in love with their food here. I remember their Super King Burrito being massive but this last time I went it seemed smaller. I also noticed the raised the prices but I assume it’s for the pandemic and the economy being out of wack. So I understand the change. While the minor changes the food is still fantastic and just like how I remember. The horchata is so refreshing and can drink that all day if I could. Service was fine and quick, a pretty good authentic restaurant located in near the commercial district of Vernon Hills.

Good authentic burritos with fresh ingredients. I would come back again!
