Good place to get fresh beer and good food while sitting outdoors on the river. The staff is very friendly.
I was very impressed with the restaurants appearance right away. The location is in a great spot downtown St Charles right next to the river. The inside was great, plenty of tables and a large bar. The outdoor seating area was my favorite and had great views of the river. They have tables and lounge area by an outdoor bar including a few couches. The service was great I never had any problems and my drink was always full. We just did appetizers and they were very good. I tried two of their beers and I was impressed with both of them. I can't wait to go back.
Great date night spot! My wife and I came on a Thursday night for dinner. The ambiance is great, you've gotta get a spot on the patio. We got a delicious lemonade cocktail and beer flight to start. Our app was the chili shrimp, a must! Lastly our entres were the smash burger and the beef brisket, great choices. This is a great spot for friendly gatherings too. Such a good spot on the river!
Love this spot! Amazing in house brewed beer and delicious menu.The staff is so friendly and does a good job checking in, making sure orders are right, etc.It’s not uncommon to see the managers walking around making sure everything is running smoothly. The patio is gorgeous and the container bar is a great spot to view the sunset over the river! One of the best spots in St Charles for sure!
Staff was very friendly and service was fast. The beer was good. The highlight was the chicken milanesa sandwich my wife ordered. The spices and seasoning on it were very well balanced. I had the Alter burger which had a nice char broil flavor but was sadly over cooked.
Super cool place with great vibes. Clay knows what's up behind the bar--he is the man! I recommend any of their salads and to definitely try the Neapolitan brew. Will be back for sure.
Go for the beer, stay for the food! Great selection of craft beers! The beer fondue with pretzels was excellent! And the pub burger was delicious and cooked perfectly! Add to that some great service and you have a top notch brew pub.
We dined at Alter Brewing over this past weekend for my birthday. Overall we loved the food and experience. The Alpenglobes are really unique. Upon arrive we were put in our globe and the table was not clean. My son ordered a burger with cheese and bacon only. When it came out it had mustard and bacon only. We sent to back and about 10 minutes later we got another burger with cheese, bacon, grilled onions. The onions were under the melted cheese so we had a hard time picking them out, but figured it was better than waiting another 10 minutes for another burger. We will likely return, but hope that the staff is better trained on the simple things.
Great beer, each one better than the last. Excellent bar tender, Kate, super friendly, great recommendations. Kitchen is open later than other places, so that's a big plus; good vegetarian options. Can't wait to go back!
Rated 4stars for one reason - If you have a plant based, vegan or vegetarian diet there are limited options at Alter Brewery. As a vegetarian my options are a pretzel with cheese, salads and French fries. Plant based options on the menu such as a veggie burger/impossible burger for example would be a welcome addition and give me more reasons to return to eat.On the flip side, the beer at Alter Brewery is great. There are options to suit anyones preference and since it’s brewed on site it’s fresh.They have seasonal beers on tap from time to time and have always given me a sample before buying so I can make a good choice.The atmosphere is good, and has indoor / outdoor seating options all year round you can even pick up a growler “to go” while you’re there so you can enjoy the beer at home.I recommend the beer, but not the food selection if you’re vegetarian, vegan or have a plant based diet. I can’t speak to the entire menu.
