We have been coming to Shallots for years. For us, both for personal occasions and business functions the experience has always been excellent. The food is tasty, the service is attentive and the ambiance is great. For tonight’s dinner, we started with the Italian wedding soup and some basic sushi rolls. This was followed by flatbread, bbq short ribs and chicken Marsala for mains. Everything was fresh and tasted delicious. Our sever Jen was very attentive but not overwhelming which I really appreciated. The level of customer service makes me feel like I did not waste my hard earned dollars! I also appreciate the fact that they have shortened their menu so that I don’t feel like I’m reading a Lev Tolstoy novel. We sincerely hope to dine at Shallots and share many more special occasions with them for many years to come!

I made a reservation for me and my wife’s anniversary for 630. I got a text message saying it was at 6:00. I called Shallots Bistro to get it moved back to 630. I was told no that they can do 7:00 or 6:00.I asked again and I told them how I made the reservation for 630. Still same rejection. So I will be celebrating my anniversary at Ruth Chris in Northbrook I would suggest others do the same. Clearly they don’t need your business.

The food is good / not great. They have a full sushi menu. The steak that I ordered / cooked perfectly, however it was chewy. It’s a upscale kosher steakhouse. Very pricey.

Definitely love the remodelingIt looks and feels comfortable and upscaleThe food is ok, even delicious sometimes, and sometimes just okThat's the issue for meIt definitely seems overpriced (they recently increased their already steep pricing)I usually just go here for celebratory type meals, mostly Birthdays for the daughter(it's her favorite place)

Nice ambiance with prices you would expect from a nice kosher restaurant. High quality steaks and sushi. Best value is chicken tenders.

High class, expensive Steakhouse and sushi kosher restaurant. Three of us all had steaks and they were wonderful. Thick, juicy, tender. However the service left an awful lot to be desired, especially when you're paying $70 to $110 for a main course. Perhaps it's because of a shortage of workers due to covid but it was really poor. The busboy who brought our dinners didn't know which one was which. After he left we noticed we didn't get any steak knives and had to ask for them a few minutes later when we were finally able to flag someone. Then we noticed that they didn't bring anything for the sweet potatoes. Being a kosher restaurant we would have expected them to bring margarine automatically. Again it took a while to get someone to assist. When it came time for desert, the waiter took our orders but neglected to ask if any of us wanted coffee or tea. I had to ask him for coffee. It was our friend's birthday and they brought her dessert with a wonderful sparkler in it and a really cute lighted Happy Birthday sign. Many restaurants will comp a birthday dessert but Shallots does not which is ok with me. However, charging an extra $3 for the sparkler seemed incredibly cheap and chintzy of them. They also automatically added a 20% service charge to the bill and then had a section at the bottom of the bill asking if we wanted to add additional tip. Given the level of service received I absolutely would not have given even 20%. They didn't deserve it.When leaving the manager asked how our dinner was. I wasn't actually going to even say anything but our birthday friend spoke up and I added in my comments as well. His reaction? One of those, sorry but not sorry, like it or leave it, that's the way it is responses.

Our sever was very nice. However, the food was terrible. Our food was overcooked, dry and salty. If I didn't have a glass of water, I might have choked on the hockey puck of food they served. The place is Kosher, I get that the choices may be a tad limited if that's what you are looking for; but for the price range (appetizers averaged $20+, entrees averaged $50s++, with a burger at $25). Server was nice, but did not ask why we only took a couple of bites of our entree and did not want the rest to go, he seemed uncomfortable and didn't want to deal with it. By the way, they automatically add 20% tip. It was only two of us.. Overall, pick another place, not recommended at all for food.

Food was good but it took almost an hour for our food to arrive. Considering that the restaurant was barely one third full, that was unreasonable!

I always love coming to shallots but this most recent meal was extraordinarily special and that’s all thanks to the warm and wonderful service that Jimmy gave to us. What a wonderful guy! Really made my birthday feel special and was spot on with his recommendations, too! Coming to shallots is worth it for the food, but a meal becomes memorable when the service is exemplary. Thanks again, Jimmy!

We had a great time. Food was delicious and service was impeccable. We never once had to look over to find a wait staff. Someone always came by to check on us. Great job!
