The worst Vietnamese food I’ve had in Chicago. Pho was barely ok, bland, not hot enough broth. The bun bo was dreadful, wrong type of noodles and broth was not flavorful at all. Hard to eat. Never come back again.
Love this place. Food is always consistently tasty. Service is great. Space is open and clean.
They make a wonderful vegetarian pho, and pretty good sushi. However, the sushi can take a while, so if your order includes more than a small amount of sushi be prepared to wait. Aside from that, it's a great little place and I recommend it!
The restaurant itself is clean, modern, bright. The staff is helpful and service was quick. The menu is a combination of Vietnamese, Chinese, and Japanese foods. This review focuses on the Vietnamese food as that is what is in the name of the restaurant and what we tried. Disappointment. Being from Cali, we like to try ethnic food when in other parts of the country, in particular Vietnamese. Taste is subjective and no doubt some will like the flavor here. Among other things, we tried the pho which is a mainstay of many Vietnamese restaurants. We were surprised that Bun Bo Hue was also on the menu, so got that too. The pho soup was cloudy. Good quality pho broth should be clear. It had no taste of spices found in pho such as star of anise. Typically bun bo hue would have a pork hock in it, and would include (which you can decline) cubes of pork blood. Bun bo hue should have come with a side plate of shredded banana blossoms and other garnishes. It should have a hint of shrimp paste. No hock, no garnishes. And no blood (which I didn't expect them to have) We did not try the Chinese or Japanese dishes so not able to comment on those.
Delicious! Everything from the Chinese menu was perfect and we did vegetarian! Sesame tofu was a fabulous surprise. Also we appreciated that they were willing to accommodate and make veggie egg rolls. The recyclable containers (rather than styrofoam) was another nod. Overall really wonderful! We will come again!
Menu is extensive. Quality was very good. Highly recommend pho choices. Alcohol choices are limited but include sake and Japanese beer
Went on NY Eve. Had the veggie pho. Server was super nice and accommodating. It looks like a dive outside but inside of the restaurant is really nice! Great for social distancing. Check them out. Worth the $20 if you’re in the Skokie area
Ran into this restaurant on accident and we're glad we did. We had sushi, Mongolian beef, orange chicken and miso soup - everything was great and our server was very sweet. Can't wait to go back
My first time trying Pho was here and I got the Chicken Pho (Pho Ga). Honestly, it was like a done up and refreshing chicken soup. The noodles were perfectly cooked, the additions were fresh and I was surprised at how much I enjoyed the addition of mint leaves to the dish. For a first time Pho experience, I think this is definitely a place I would recommend! Especially since the service was good, too.
This rating is based on Vietnamese dishes that we ordered. We had Pho (#203) and BBH (spicy beef Hue style noodle) and they were not quite authentic. Pho was lack of spices aroma and broth was just average. BBH was quite modified, did not have the fundamental ingredients such as pork hock, pork blood and beef shank slices. Although the broth was not too bad but was not smoking HOT! Portion was very small for the price. We were not full after the meal. But overall, it is a very nice, clean, spacious restaurant with nice waiter!
