I have been coming here since the 1980s, though yesterday was my first time here in almost 20 years. When I lived in the area I went almost weekly. Yesterday’s meal was a fantastic trip down memory land with some great friends from the old neighborhood. I had the skirt steak sandwich and my friend had the 1/2 bbq chicken; it tasted the same as it did 20 years ago. They now apparently bottle their own sauce through a separate entity and it tastes just like before. Even the staff is the same as it was almost 40 years ago. This place is a treasure. I often gravitate to Herm’s or poochies or even Grecian Kitchen when I am in the area. However don’t sleep on hubs, this place is fantastic and has amazing consistency across decades. I have only been to the Lincoln Ave location one time as I grew up around the corner from the Demeter st location. A true Skokie icon!
Coworkers and I ordered 5 days ago.The staff is always polite and happy. They take your order correct and they are efficient. What I also love about this restaurant is you can order through the phone or online and have it delivered to your job. They park and walk straight into emissions front desk. Thank you for delivering. It is so busy it is hard to leave this place.
The lady who takes orders (one with long hair and glasses/ maybe the owner) was very rude. I was having a problem with my card and she trew the pen at me and it was very rude. Made me want to leave and go somewhere else. Definitely not coming back even if the food is good.
I recently purchased the chicken kabob special for lunch. It came with chicken kabob, rice, salad, and pita bread. It was good, except I would've liked to swap the house dressing for another type, and some of the rice was a little hard. Also, with the specials, there's no substitutions.
They serve pretty good veggie burger. The fries could be improved as they were not quite as fresh and crisp as I like them.
Great lunch special -- I tried it with gyros meat and it came with a generous portion of salad & rice along either a pita and drink.
I've been going to Hubs for a very long time. I missed an entire year due to the Pandemic, but I've recently checked them out and they are still going. I'm so glad. Their food is delicious and always "hot"! Great family business and everyone is so nice. They still remembered me and treated me the same as if I never missed any time there. Order ahead to cut down your wait time. Just a tip! :)
I’m usually very hard to impress, however this place has one of the best gyro sandwiches I’ve ever had. Chicago as we all know has lots of places you can get gyro but they range from bad to ok to great this place is ranked on top of that list.
I ordered 3 sandwiches for pick up. I especially told 2 times we do not eat onion. Do not put any onions in all sandwiches. All 3 sandwiches came with onion. All were garbage.Great job ! Never go back!
I ordered 3 sandwiches from phone. Then when I recieved my order there were onions in all of them. This is ridiculous. What if I had allergies? I saw the owner respond to someone's comment saying "we are all human" yes I understand but it's not that hard to write down NO ONIONS on our order. If you can't do a simple order, then don't even do any. I'm never coming back here again. I got a rude response and not even a sorry. Just because you have great reviews doesn't mean you can treat your customers like trash.
