Special thanks to Maria, Rich and staff of the Charcoal Oven Restaurant for the FANTASTIC job they did today on the Celebration of Life for my sister Jacqueline. The food and service was great as always.

Beautiful interior but awful, overcooked, overpriced food right down to the frozen bagged vegetables. Word on the street is they steal tips from their employees. I hope they salvage the neon sign when this place is closed down.

Ambiance was what I was hoping for when selecting Charcoal Oven for a nice dinner date.Beyond that, the food was bland, chintzy and way overpriced. I even had my leftovers brought to me in a Jewel Osco plastic bag, which I suspect is where they purchased the $50 steak that I ordered; and yes, they serve potato chips as your "potato" side. Unacceptable. All told, I'm not a fan of giving negative reviews, but in this case, the money spent truly was not worth the experience. I will not be returning here, but I do hope the establishment turns it around to what it seemingly used to be like.

I think they need a few more servers. Had to wait. But the food was pretty good. So I can forgive.

Amazing little diner, huge portions and tasty food!

There was fast and courteous service. This place has a cool feel to it. I can see why they have a lot of positive reviews.

I visit this place a lot since I work in the area. I have to say the service is always fantastic and they keep the spot clean at all times. Rates are reasonable and they serve large portions.

Fantastic food, super friendly staff members, regularly awesome character. They charge convenient rates and the food quality is awesome. 5 stars.

Very average food and service. Would benefit from better olls, soup selection and choice o sides.

Charcoal Oven is an institution with generous portions, booths that seem suited to a Dean Martin, Frank Sinatra era of comfort, and traditions of service and fare. It's a terrific guys' place that we see groups of women enjoying, too. With her husband, the daughter of the late founder continues the traditions.
