My favorite Japanese restaurant in greater Chicago area. Lunch menu price is super reasonable. If I work nearby, I’d love to come everyday. After moving to Bay with much more options, I still think Daruma’s quality still stands out and I come back whenever I can.

One of the best if not the best Japanese restaurant in IL. All of their Japanese is top notch! My top favorites are their takoyaki and katsu curry.Their takoyaki is the best I have ever had, great texture and flavor. The takoyaki retains its crispy exterior and has a generous amount of octopus!Katsu curry: the chicken katsu keeps its crispy texture despite being drenched in rich and creamy curry sauce. The curry has an AMAZING curry flavor.

Daruma is THE BEST kept secret for Japanese dining experience. Their food is always made with quality ingredients and recipe. Even their take outs are thoughtfully packaged to separate hot & cold foods. Love their attention to detail.Probably why I go here more than all other Japanese restaurants combined. My go to's are - Chicken katsu (not on the menu), Niku soba noodle soup, Salmon/Chicken teriyaki, Gomae with spinach (not on the menu), Agedashi tofu, Ama-Ebi (Sweet shrimp) sushi, Daruma sushi dinner, and of course their spaghetti!

We went to this restaurant for sushi and we were very pleased! The wait wasn’t long and the food was delicious! And price was very reasonable. Enjoyed the atmosphere and the wait staff was extremely nice and helpful!

Always fantastic! Amazing and authentic food. I go there a few times a year and they never disappoint with it’s calming atmosphere. 100/10 WOULD RECOMMEND!!!

Food was good. Ordered a roll, a few pieces of nigiri, and a Katsu lunch. I was content with my order until a loveCockroach crawled from the corner of the sushi bar towards me. Pretty gross

This is Authentic Japanese restaurant. A lot of appetizers and Japanese traditional entrees; all are delicious. We enjoyed!!If not authentic place , fews of appetizers and entrees choices( with plenty of sushi and sashimi option), named as “sushi bar” or combination with Chinese or Thai foods; actually sushi and sashimi you can easily get from H mart or other Asian super market with 50% price or even much more cheaper compared with at there. Not too much difference…..Then save money to buy super good sake…… Foods at America are expensive, for me, just don’t like to waste money at not authentic place… We love authentic place only !

Best meal in a very long time.

We were celebrating a friend's birthday so we had 1 of the private rooms which was really comfortable. The service was good, the food was delicious and the sushi was amazing. It's the first time I had sashimi that melted in my mouth and it's an experience I will likely not forget. The Japanese spaghetti on the menu was surprisingly tasty. I say surprisingly because I didn't know what to expect. The only con was the restroom which wasn't very clean at the time I went in. Despite that, I'd highly recommend this place for the food, the service, and the atmosphere

No place better near Hoffman Estates for some piping hot ramen and gyoza to warm you up! Throw in a bottle of sake and you have yourself a wonderfully delightful meal!!
