How is the chicken? Some of the best you will ever have!Bonchon has the best wings in the Chicago area. The hot wings, depending on which cook prepares them, will be both very spicy and fabulously delicious. They are perfectly crispy and go perfectly with the pickled radishes. If you’re looking for something different and several steps better than BWW - give Bonchon a try.
A bit too pricey for chicken wings and drums. 2 flavors of sauce, one is a mild sweet delicious flavor and a great texture bite. The other flavor is hard to say because the spiciness was so intense that all I felt was my mouth, tongue, lips, esophagus...and I'm pretty sure the plate also, melting away. I'm not sure if the hot wings are always that hot, or if someone messed up with that batch of sauce and pretty much only put intense pepper juice all over it. I eat hot wings all the time...as well as spicy Tai, Vietnamese, Indian, Mexican, and other hot foods. This was up there for contending with the top 5 hottest foods I've ever eaten. I've had ghost pepper wings that were definitley hotter than this...but not by much lol. 15 bucks for 5 drums isn't worth the price honestly too for me, but they have some decent standard katsu and other menu options from bothe Japan and Korea. This place actually has a nice bar. They should add a sign that says "restaurant and bar". It would make for a nice stop on a bar crawl going from City Works to Kumas Corner, to Bonchon, to Miller's Ale ...without crossing golf road. Another note is that the Cinnaholic Cinnabon store is next door, which is amazing, and is absolutely has to be your dessert stop after this place. All and all I think the service and food are solid. I knocked 1 star down for being overpriced...I can chalk up the intense wing sauce to my own inadequacy. Lol
After watching several videos on YouTube, my husband and I couldn't wait to try Bonchon's Korean fried chicken. Being retired on a budget, we decided today while running errands in Schaumburg, to stop in.A lovely young lady approached me to take my order. I told her it was my first time, and asked her to recommend what chicken I should try. She suggested the wing & drum combo explaining that there was a small order for 2 people saying that it came with one side. So I took her advice and ordered what she recommended.I also ordered the seasoned fries which I couldn't wait to try. She then repeated my order back to me without missing a beat.Moments later she delivered my bag of food with a smile. When we got home and unpacked the bag, we had received a plain order of french fries, and an order of 4 chicken drumsticks. There wasn't a side of coleslaw at all.And although the chicken was delicious, our experience was far from impressive. We looked at our receipt and saw that the order she placed for us wasn't correct. We were charged almost $25.00 for an order of plain fries and 4 chicken drumsticks and a missing side. That was almost $5.00 perdrumstickNeedless to say, we were disappointed and came away with a bad taste in our mouths. Not from the delicious fried chicken, but from our overall experience.I took pictures of my receipts and the food, but it seems that I can't post them here. I'll probably post this review along with photos on Google.
Great experience there. Came here off of a recommendation from my little cousins, who are obsessed with this place. I'll have to say that's some of the best Korean Fried Chicken I can possibly get in the midwest. We didn't know which one to get so we tried the spicy and the soy sauce one. The spicy one is definitely much better. It gives a nice kick with each bite along with as you've seen from other ppl's reviews the perfect CRUNCH!!! The soy sauce one is way too salty. It may work well with just plain white rice and some white radish kimchi, but not feeling that one.The Bulgogi tacos were a nice blend of Asian fusion mixing Korean beef put into a Mexican style soft-shell taco. It was alright. The sauce was a little excessive that I couldn't really appreciate the flavors of the meat in the taco, but it was still pretty good.My friends ordered the Bibimbop which was nice, since they put it in a stone bowl, which can help make some of the rice get that crispy crunchiness. It's nice bc there is a vegetarian option for those that do not eat meat in a Fried Chicken joint! :)OMG the Parmesan Cheese Fries were amazing!!! foodgasmic experience with each bite. This restaurant has a unique way of making sure their food retains it's crispy crunchiness. Big fan of that. The Spicy chicken 닭갈비 was way too American in tastes, which in the USA makes sense. Overly saucy and white meat chicken, seriously? If that's dark meat, it doesn't have the nice plump juiciness that dark meat chicken should have. Plus it doesn't really come with any lettuce wraps or Perilla leaves, just a bowl of rice. It's alright for American tastes, but at least they made it spicy.I will be coming back again, but only sparingly. It is on the pricier end, but it is in a Chicago Suburbs, you're gonna have to pay money to get food like this. The service was adequate, I wouldn't say extraordinary or superb, but not terrible or anything. I don't think they deserve the amount that the receipt suggests for a tip, but first time, I guess I'll be nice. It's not like the workers tried to be rude or anything, there just wasn't the American-style friendly service that I'd expect in a restaurant. They were just there to do their job. Thanks again, and will be coming back again for those spicy wings and kimchi. :)
Our new FAVORITE WINGS! First time for my husband and I trying this place. We'll absolutely be back to try more things in the menu! The soy garlic wings are definitely worth trying. The texture and flavor are AMAZING. Korean bulgogi tacos are very good as well. We tried the pork buns and the soft, pillowy buns were EVERYTHING... let alone being stuffed with perfectly cooked pork belly. Great place!
I have been craving the chicken of this restaurant for a long time, and I finally got a chance to visit it. Of course, I also wanted to share my good experience. I went to the place and it was busy, but not as busy as compared to my last visit. This is, I think, my number one go-to spot whenever I want Korean chicken, wings and all. I like their chicken and other foods because they have a good flavor that is really delicious and satisfying. When it comes to the service and atmosphere of the place, it is always clean, cozy, and the staff are friendly and helpful. I like a lot of their foods, including their chicken katsu, which has a literally huge portion and is also good. I also like their French fries, which are always served hot, golden, crispy and well-seasoned. I like their drumsticks and wings as much as I love their chicken katsu, especially when it is spicy. The food here is just generally good, especially their chicken. However, the prices are noticeably higher than any restaurant I could think of with the same good chicken. Still, it is a great spot for chicken cravings.
Was there this weekend for a bday party and the food and service did not disappoint!! I've had Bonchon wings before, but usually were delivery. Still good, but when you have them fresh, there is nothing like it! Soy Garlic is the way to go and the wings are crispy, yet not oily at all. The staff was super friendly, accommodating and ensured the family was taken care of. Amazing food and wonderful staff. Keep it up Bonchon Schaumburg!!
I loved this place but they keep teasing this amazing sweet chili sauce and then discontinuing it randomly. Soy garlic is gross and spicy is painful. It's a shame because I love the chicken but I'm never coming back.
Stopped there for the first time today. Ordered the Korean tacos , had a beer and watch some One Piece on the TV. The Korean tacos were very good. I had it bulgogi style, delicious tender meat. I think the only thing they were missing was a little kimchi kick. I'll definitely be back.
This was some of the BEST fried chicken that I've had in a long time. Honestly this chicken was way better than Harold's. Not greasy, cooked perfectly extra crispy. It had the perfect crunch with every bite. Also the pickled radish was also good. Now the flavors of the chicken my wife and I had. My wife Soy Garlic and I had the spicy Korean.
