Landed in Chicago and your advertisement on highway 55 brought us to your restaurant. The food, environment, staff & that view was amazing… we will be back in a few days. Great start to our anniversary vacation!
Had dinner here while filming in the area. I decided to have three appetizers and skip a main course. I had French onion soup, Brussels Sprouts, and a Crab cake with slaw. Everything was delicious, the facility and grounds are beautiful and the wait staff was great.
Brian was excellent! Fish&chips are amazing, as are the onion rings! My daughter enjoyed her burger and fries, said the fries were a bit too salty, but were good. Brian brought her an ice cream dessert with all the fixings, over and above! We are in town for her bday to see a concert, so it was an awesome surprise from Brian! Again, Brian was awesome, very personable, attentive, and very knowledgeable about the food and drinks! Highly recommend and ask for Brian!
Excellent food and service every time! The Brussel sprouts are a must! And the lamb burger is amazing! The fish and chips is done very well and are bottomless. I have food sensitivities and they are always happy to answer any menu questions I have and the cooks are always great about any special requests I have. I’ve been here countless times and will continue to come back.
Our daughter took us out for Mother's Day a few days late because they were in Florida. We ordered pretzel bites with a yummy cheese sauce, brussels sprouts with cheese and chopped walnuts. Two of us had the salmon with farro risotto which I tasted and was so delicious., I had the beef sandwich with cheese and peppers and delicious parmesan fries. Our son in law had a fish sandwich that was humongous. Service was efficient and friendly. Some of us had salmon chowder that was quite flavorful.
I believe that I have reviewed McWethy's in the past, but they recently added a Lenten menu to their regular menu and, in addition to other appealing seafood items they had a Shrimp Po'Boy that caught my attention. My husband, daughter and I went today and we all ordered one. It did not disappoint, in fact it was better than some shrimp po'boys that I've had in Florida. The shrimp was lightly breaded and cooked perfectly, there was an elote slaw , chipotle ranch on a ciabatta roll. I hope they keep it on the menu after Lent is over, or at least add it into some sort of rotation - it was that good!
You know how when something is close to home and feels easily accessible you never really try it? That's what I did. Don't make the same mistake! It was a great, cozy, and maybe even romantic atmosphere. The service was kind and attentive. And the good was delightful! My husband said it was the best steak sandwich he ever had. My patty melt was fantastic. This is a must try!
McWethy's added a Lenten menu with a bigger selection of seafood. My husband, daughter and I went there for lunch to try their Shrimp Po'Boy. The picture on their website looked really good. Enjoyed an awesome Valentine's meal there with my mother and my wife, very nice selection. I was curious to try out their onion rings, and now based off that I'm dying to try their fish and chips - the better was so thick for the onion rings that when they fried up they came up donut size but it wasn't doughy it was nice and crispy and it was like it had separated and fluffed from the onion the onion was well cooked the batter was very crispy and perfect. The wife and Mom both had a bacon wrapped filet mignon medallion, everything was nicely prepared and excellently served, wait staff and everyone there very very friendly.
