Not your ordinary coffee shop. Velvet Robot serves delicious, strong dark coffee. Breakfast foods are generous portions and quite good. Staff members are skilled and efficient without superficial or false pleasantries. Thought-provoking art displayed (some of which is for sale) is sociopolitical and mental health related. All of this makes for a good place to spend 20-30 minutes waking up. Late morning music is sometimes Punk, usually loud. LGBTQIA+ friendly.
Not a bad place. Decent prices, however the espresso (doppio) had coffee grounds in it. The siphon coffee had decent flavor for a dark roast. It would be nice if they didn't shy away from lighter roasts. I understand it's easier to brew dark roasts but light roasts have such great flavor profiles with different notes that could compliment some of their food dishes.Don't see where I said I was confused.
Did a coffee run for me and some co-workers, and Velvet Robot did not disappoint. The coffee was excellent, and everything in the order was made accurately. I wasn’t able to hang around long, but the aesthetics of the indoor seating seemed really cool as well.
The pulled pork quesadilla was fire ! 10/10 would recommend

Today was our second time here and we will continue to be back. The bacon egg and cheese bagel is seriously the best we’ve ever had. Coffee never disappoints. Immaculate vibes. Highly recommend!
People of Rockford wave and sometimes they even walk really fast with you saying nothing but smiling:)Walking my bootie off (literally) this morning and ended up putting the calories back on at Velvet Coffee Lab. I will totally do it again and again.I met the three fellas in the picture below. They instantly left their mark. I struggled with the door not once but twice and they had every opportunity to laugh at me but instead we laughed together. Their personalities alone will get me back over and over but it should be noted the London Fog was killer. My kinda people. Thank you for welcoming me in and for the great conversation. Cute little place with nice works and the coffee was 10/10 I hope to go back soon. I loved the vide it gave off and made everyone feel welcome. Loved it
This place is a gem. The coffee and food are delish. And the staff is simply fabulous. They are so kind to all customers and often know folks names when they come through the door. Not to mention the awesome vibe. If you don’t like this place it just means you’re not cool enough to like it. Kelsey, I’m talking to you.
