Went here ordered a to go meal. Got the brisket because it was reccomended. Manager was a little cold but figured she may have been having a bad day. The brisket was served in a paper to go box and its a wet brisket. My car is covered in sauce because the box was paper and its basically a soup. Quality of the meat was good but wasn't a huge fan of the seasoning. Came with a potato salad which was very good and the bao was also very good. Get better to go packages for your customers especially for soup.
Great spot for a bit of random mixed asian food we had the Thursday ramen and it was amazing. Service was great and a nice environment for dinner and drinks.
I had the fried pulled pork bowl. The pork was unseasoned. The fried rice unseasoned. I got catfished by this restaurant. My cousin had the ramen and they used udon noodles? The broth wasn’t tasty at all. I lived in Japan for years and I know good ramen. This isn’t it. Id recommend some instant nood packs that are better than this.The bao’s were okay. I had the seared tuna one and it was barely seared.And for the price point, not worth it. Charging that much I’d expect some cloth napkins and better executed food.Service was great though!Stick to Filipino dishes and it might be better!Let me take you out to eat at a good ramen place on my dime and show you.
Octane RKFD is at a great location near the river in the Main Street District of downtown Rockford. Free street parking and a parking lot across the street. Located in a chic-industrial building with a large and stylish bar inside. The menu is Asian inspired including some unique fusion style boa buns, lumpia rolls, mazemen (broth-less Ramen) and traditional Ramen on Thursdays. Their cocktails are also delicious and we want to go back to try the rest! Wine list and beer list as well. Looking forward to coming back.
Between the spicy vegan soup, the softest Bao buns I've ever had, and flavored packed stuffings (fried chicken, pork)...I was in heaven. Delicious food, great service, and don't forget the cocktails! Must try!
Food is great, and so is the service. Sometimes I wish the menu didn’t change, I have a habit of falling in love with an item and the next time I come back it’s no longer on the menu.
The positive reviews are a little much for this place. I’ve been there twice and have not experienced anything like the raving reviews others have posted. The menu is limited with no real description of what your actually getting. I don’t know what a Ka Bao is and the menu offers no help. The prices are high for the small portions you get. A Ka Bao is a type of taco with a piece of fried chicken. You wouldn’t know that because the menu doesn’t tell you. The entire menu is like that. Lots of unfamiliar words with no details as to what it is. Both times our service was very slow. Our waiter incorrectly took our order. After waiting for our meal for over thirty minutes it came out piece by piece. Half of it was wrong and had to be sent back. We all agreed that the food; once it was done correctly, was good but the portions were small and over priced. The server was slow and made numerous mistakes which extended our stay to almost two hours. Overall I was not impressed. The taste of the food is only one factor in rating an exceptional restaurant. This restaurant fails more than it succeeds.
I had a great experience at Octane. When I first got there, I thought the menu was a bit pricey, after eating our meal however, it was worth every penny. I look forward to coming back here.
I love the food, the service and the atmosphere you instantly receive when going in. They have vegetarian options and if you are a regular your order is remembered. Very satisfied, will return.
Very comfortable and laid back atmosphere. Drinks were really good as well. We haven’t ate there yet but the food looks really good. If you sit at the bar the stools feel like what I imagine sitting on angel hands would feel like.
