The only legitimate restaurant in Plainfield. Always amazing!
Amazing food and a cozy atmosphere. Superb waiter. I cannot recall his name but he was extremely entertaining and very helpful! Will definitely be back!
We had reservations may 18 6:30 pm. We go here because the food is great. The experience tonight wasn't so. When taking a sip of my water the bottom of the water glass broke off. I got drenched the table was soaked. The floor underneath me was all water. The little girl with long dark hair came over and took the pieces of glass and I gave me a bunch of napkins to soak up the watered table. And my clothes which were soaked. When the waitress came we explained what happened and she did change out the table paper. There were tiny pieces of glass. I just shake out my clothes when I get home so I get rid of any tiny glass pieces. We got our drinks or most of them we had to ask a few times for the one persons lemonade. I asked for more bread and it wasn't until about 20 minutes later the nice man with the dark beard came by to give water. Which I politely refused and I told him no thank you I'm soaked enough. We asked him for bread. He offered to give us desserts for what happened. We refused. The waitress could have went home with a very nice tip. Because I am generous. I have her a regular Tip because I've worked in a restaurant and it is hard work. But she could have done a better job and got twice as much. I didn't like being ignored after being drenched. Well enough. To say the least my experience I will share with others. I hope no one else has this type of dining experience
The worst thing I had here was excellent! Very creative and great presentation. The food is very tasty and fresh veggies as well as meats and seafood! I asked our server if she could top the great meal we had and she said they have tiramisu and it’s really good. I said bring it on! All I can say is she was right on the money! Great service, great food, and great atmosphere! A great eatery and a local small business!
This place was amazing! The Drinks, the service, and the amount of food you get could not get any better. We had a great waitress that was always there when a refill was just about needed and the other wait staff were there for anything we needed. I brought my wife and 3 kids (all under 9) and they loved the food as well. Upper management also checked in on us as well. Will recommend this place to anybody looking for a great place to eat!!
Service was great considering that some of the groups was needy, for example instead of mimosas we prefer captain and oj to kick off the brunch. We drank them out of OJ but other than that food was good, place is nice. I enjoyed it and so did our group of 12.
We love this place as an option when we're in the mood to treat ourselves, or celebrating something special! Their menu options are tasty, the drinks are always cold and the service is great! We like to sit at the bar and have had many wonderful experiences here.
3 1/2 Stars. We went there for the first time tonight. We normally go to Capri Sogno when we feel like Italian food and don't feel like cooking. LDV is much smaller than Capri and has a very different vibe. It's much more like an old familiar neighborhood joint. Joint is a compliment not an insult. Our server was a middle aged lady (we're old foggies fwiw) who took a little too long to get to our table once we were seated. Once she got us started, the service was most excellent, and she was really cool, laid back, and handled things perfectly. The food to me was a mixed bag. The fried calamari appee was good, fresh, and the portion was BIG. Served with cocktail sauce and lemons. The house salad is awesome. One salad on the menu and bingo, it's simple, fresh, and very tasty. My better half had some kind of broccoli rabe ravioli in a cream sauce. Portion size was nice, but I'm gonna have to guess they bring the ravioli in from a jumbotron restaurant supply house. It did not taste homemade to me. Still, a pleasant dish, but for the price, I expected homemade. If I'm wrong, I'd be surprised. I had Chicken Marsala w/mushrooms. Again, nice portion and it came with a side of pasta. (I had linguine with meat sauce, old school delicious, and not too much garlic. That was a nice treat) The chicken was cooked really well. it was tender with a nice light coating. The Marsala sauce was lacking well, um, Marsala. The dish could have used more mushrooms too. I will say everything was served hot and at a nice pace. They got that down once they get to you. FWIW, we walked in right as they peaked in their busy period for the night, so I can't really complain too much. Everyone who we encountered who worked there was very pleasant and nice to deal with. 3 1/2 stars is a solid rating from me. I'm kinda of a food nut and a very good cook myself, so I have certain expectations when we go out. I do like Capri a bit more than LDV, but make no mistake, we'll be going back to LDV on a regular basis. That old neighborhood joint vibe is one I've missed for years. it's been a long time since we've been to a place with that feel. Oh yeah, I'd be totally remiss if I failed to mention, their meat sauce was outstanding. They hit a grand slam with it. Old school charm, excellent service from a very good staff, and food that has a few misses, but in the end, it's well worth trying. I'm excited to try other things. If you feel better, you can call this a true 4 star review, but it's really 3 1/2 to 3 3/4 to me. I rarely , and I do mean rarely give five star restaurant reviews. Thanks for a nice meal and experience staff at LDV, we're looking forward to coming back.
I was there for a baby shower, and it was a beautiful event. The food was fantastic and the servers were great!
