Stopped at BDVC for the first time this morning after seeing that the Mayor stopped in a few days ago. We were surprised by only seeing 2 patrons in the shop when we arrived, but still wanted to give them a try. Needless to say, that was not a good decision. The atmosphere and vibe is there, but the morale and café experience is not. Everything was fine until we heard one of the owners question my husband's food order. We ordered 2 breakfast sandwiches (my husband wanted no egg on his), a banana muffin to share (the only sweet item they had available...), an iced chai tea latte with a shot of espresso, and a sweet iced tea. We paid a little over 30 bucks for this "meal". The girl behind the counter had to tell the male owner our food order a few times since he questioned why we ordered a breakfast sandwich with no egg. We should not have to explain why and him, as an owner, during these trying times, should know better. Just take the order, make it, and serve it. Easy as that. Do not question or roll your eyes. People can see and hear you. That put a bad taste in our mouths and we just knew what the rest of the experience was going to be like. They put on some music that you can tell is played off of a playlist through a speaker. Not a vinyl being played on a record player like is in their name. When the food and beverages arrived, I told the girl that we did not appreciate the owners actions and she apologized. I even told her that he as an owner should know better. What if someone is allergic to something or has dietary restrictions? You're still going to question what they order? She apologized and agreed that he should know better. The food and beverages were just there. Again, I got the breakfast sandwich with an egg and it was mostly bread, which made it very dry, so I can't even imagine how dry my husband's sandwich was as he only had bacon and cheese. Yes, the ingredients are fresh, but choose a thinner type of bread so you can taste all of the ingredients and not feel like you need to down an entire gallon of water afterwards. The banana muffin was also a little dry, the sweet tea was too sweet and syrup tasting, and my chai latte had too much milk in it. We really wanted to like this place given it's very ornate concept, atmosphere, and vibe, but after this type of experience, we will not be back. I hope they get more business when they have night life, otherwise we envision that they will not last.

I could have spent an easy hour just looking through records that were in the store. Family oriented with having some board games for the kids. Took my 2 year old in the cafe for muffin and he enjoyed himself there. Could tell he enjoyed all the pictures all around the walls. Definitely going to be making more trips here!

Great, unique coffee drinks for a reasonable price. They also have local brewery offerings, and some food options as well that I have yet to try. They have a small stage set up for various events. The other half of their space is cute record store section with some local jewelry and merch. The whole store has a great comfy vibe to it that I love being in. I definitely need to spend more time here!
