Childer’s went downhill fast when they decided to branch out. The University location had the small diner charm that you’d go to for breakfast, and they lost that novelty getting too big for their britches; They’ve sacrificed adequate food and service for an uber-trendy vibe that doesn’t take.
I thought the portions were a bit small. The food had overall a good taste though. My reason for the 2 star review is that our waitress was awful. Very unfriendly, no eye contact, never asked how our food was, took forever to get the bill. It was overall a bit disappointing.
Went there for the first time today and was pretty happy. Obviously people like it, it was a hopping place today. Loved the menu selections, thought it was a nice mix. I had the lemon something French toast, and it was good. The cocktails were very good, but not cheap. Our waiter was nice and pleasant. Overall a nice time.
I had the Skillet and it was good. I wish it was smothered in less gravy, but it's just a part of the dish. When I asked to substitute the cheese, they were very accommodating. The menu has variety, which I love, but unfortunately, it has next to no vegan options.I love the ambience of the place. There's a cute side wall with plants, which gives it a fun, lively vibe.Great place for a weekend brunch!
Over Rated! The place busy so we had a little bit of a wait to be seated and then waited over an hour for our food after we ordered which wouldn't have been a problem except our food came out cold. When you spend over 10 buck for 3 pancakes you expect they'd at least be warm. The biscuits were hard and cold and the gravy was disgusting. It tasted like they had all this left over sage from Thanksgiving that they didn't know what to do with so they added it to the gravy and garnished it with parsley. Who does that. Waste of money!!You respond to the gravy but no explanation to why the food came out cold after an hour wait. You're team is a joke!!
We had a hard time deciding what to try! A lot of traditional breakfasts but with a twist, a little something to make them unique! Food was great and service was outstanding!
Customer experience was poor. Service was slow with very little concern for our table. No coffee refills, wrong OJ order and long food wait. Sad too because I really do enjoy the food, but service grows business.
While the server was attentive and kind, the food was disappointing. Lukewarm, small serving sizes, not done well. The oyster crackers served with the special of the day, chicken tortilla soup tasted and appeared like they were from 2002. Also, oyster crackers with tortilla soup? Not to mention the fact that there was NO CHICKEN in the chicken tortilla soup… or tortilla for that matter. There were other factors but I digress. The only thing worth ordering was the immunity booster juice, overpriced in a tiny glass for $4.99. They were unable to provide a discount or remote things from the check, so they issued a $15 gift card that we were able to apply to the bill immediately. Overall, I don’t recommend this.
Food was fantastic, wait time was bad. Our waiter did a great job, he just had too many tables. Our comments afterwards were dismissed by the lady at the front. Other servers, whom we did not see in the large dinning area, came over and were rude when we mentioned his workload. They defended each other and were very rude to my wife about how "he's responsible for his tables". Legitimate comments shot down and responded with hostility. Why is this allowed?I would not recommend coming here for the staff
The wait was supposed to be short but took about an hr to get our food out to us, the server Jones was great but was the only staff working because the rest was just standing around while there’s dishes everywhere and a lot of tables that haven’t even been approached yet. My skillet breakfast came out which was $11 so I asked for extra meat and eggs and gravy which totaled to around $8 more extra but I received a normal portion sized skillet and I then asked the server what was goin on which he went back to the kitchen to ask about. The chef dismissed my claim and said he gave me enough. So I basically bought a $20 meal that only looks like it was worth $9. And when the family from out of town gave feedback, the servers and hosts (not Jones) dismissed it and very rudely too. So after knowing the owner a little, I hope this is addressed and fixed. Will not bring family from out of town (or anyone else for that matter) here again, I was very embarrassed. And I hope the owner takes a look at the cameras, to see just how all the other servers ( besides Mr. Jones ) acted - and stood around - aka robbing the time clock I think it’s considered!!! I’ve worked in food hospitality, and was once offered a job with the Childers family! So again I hope the owner takes action!!!
