Had dinner with friends on Fri, 6-17. None of us had been there for years...we weren't impressed. One of us ordered the T bone which was not a complete steak. Part of the filet had been cut away. The baked potatoes weren't cooked through. The cocktail sauce for my scallops had no horseradish in it and tasted like fancy catsup. The tartar sauce had no flavor. Although our drinks were good the food wasn't worth the price. Pretty sure we won't be back. Very disappointed.
I was looking forward to going to Petey’s, as I heard so much about the good food and friendly staff. My friend has been a regular there for 40 years. It was a NIGHTMARE! We arrived and staff was literally running around, the hostess did not know what to do and we were left standing at the doorway. At one point she threw up her hands and walked away. A server abruptly stopped in her tracks to say they were very busy and there was no manager and they were doing the best they could. When I asked for the third time if we could please be seated, since we could see empty tables, the hostess proceeded to raise her voice and rudely and disrespectfully cut me down for asking to be seated. We left and I’ll never know what the food is like and certainly will never go back or recommend this haphazard, nightmare of a restaurant.
My husband and I went in last evening for the 2nd time in about 20 years. The first time many years ago were not impressed, but thought we would try it again. First sat at the bar (bartender Mike was very nice) however, ordered two dirty martini's and they did not have any blue cheese or anchovy olives. Got the little tiny olives (first turnoff). Then went to the table (only 4 tables full in the entire restaurant the entire time we were there)- ordered chicken livers for appetizer (no taste, had to add salt). Husband had French and blue cheese crumbles ($3.00 extra) on his salad and very little blue cheese. I had house dressing (no taste). We each ordered what the server suggested (Greek Pork Chops and Pan Fried Perch). The pork chops were raw and the perch was big, extremely fishy smelling and tasting. I did not eat my perch (had the server throw it out) and my husband had the pork chops boxed so he could continue to cook them at home. We told the server but she did not offer to replace or refund either. Then she asked us if we wanted dessert. After not liking the food, why would we spend money on dessert. We said no thank you - only to hear the other server asking her table if they wanted "complimentary dessert". Never did our server say it was complimentary. So we asked her and she said, I asked you if you wanted dessert and you said no. We said well you should have told us it was complimentary. After all was said and done, between the bar bill and the food bill (that sucked) we spent over $150.00. A TOTAL WASTE OF MONEY AND TIME - NEVER AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
great hardworking friendly staff with great menu and Petey actually cooks.... enough said
We had a family celebration with cousins an auntie Leola. We enjoyed the before ordering our lamb chops and steak. The food just kept coming and coming. We enjoyed the meal and the service. We were in the back room just us family and enjoyed ourselves..
My mom worked at Petey's years ago.. she told me Petey is mean to his staff and cheap as hell. He reuses hors d'oeuvres that are put out on the table ? all the horror storys I've heard through the years... I'd never set foot in there.
This is your grandfather's food served in a space as tight as a sardine can.
My friends and I had a great time! The food was excellent. Our server Maggie was great! Went to sit at the bar afterwards for a cocktail people were friendly and Bartender was nice!!?❤
Last night we had a wonderful meal with family at Petey's. Every person, from bartender to busboys, we interacted with were friendly and polite. Our waitress, Sandy, was outstanding! Our various meals delicious. The relish tray, and appetizers well done! All in all I would highly recommend! Two and half time flying hours!
I wish zero stars was an option! My mom my sister and I went to Petey’s in Oak Lawn for dinner. Most everything $25. Sister orders lobster at market price. Mom did not her order. Bill comes. $495. Lobster $200. Food absolutely sucked. Scallops sucked. Tasteless. Shrimp, which My mon ordered, so over cooked. Lobster, she didn’t even finish, she disliked so much. I questioned bill. She said yep, that’s the price. Thoughts???? I will NEVER step foot in this establishment again
