Heard from a friend for the famous burger from Charlie Beinlich's. After a while I was in neighborhood so decided to stop by and try it out. Coming in was different than usual pubs that you go. Very old school looking place, feeling is like a cabin deep in forest in 1950's. A lot of wood, fish on walls etc.. There's no menu on tables, there's black board by the bar and there are not many options, burger/cheeseburger, roast beef & shrimp cocktail. There are no prices either. Server was food runner, bartender and server, like back in Europe. I went with double cheeseburger, if you want fries it costs extra and it comes with coleslaw as well, which I don't care for. I put lettuce and mayo, very basic, I wanted to taste meat mostly. The meat was moist, very GOOD QUALITY ground beef, not seasoned too much, but cheese and mayo helped it with taste, I was very satisfied, it is really one of the best burgers I ever had. I believe for most people single burger is enough (it's 1/3 of a pound), I was really hungry and went with double. I don't understand people saying "overpriced", "mcdonalds could save you money" Sure but it's about quality of meat, so I don't agree with those comments and people sayin receipts are written on paper bla bla, I mean people just complaining about not important stuff, menus, receipts, price.. It was 40$ for 2 people, and it was worth every single penny!! This place is CASH ONLY.Huge recommendation for everyone to try Charlie's burger.
We are from out of town so after spending the morning at the botanical garden we checked Google for nearby lunch spots and this place had high marks. The food was ok but way over priced in my opinion for a burger where the bun fell apart, and where you are served fries that were frozen and not even fresh cut potatoes. It appears to be a neighborhood place and was filled to capacity. The dining area is very small and they try to fit in as many tables as possible so it's really tight. There is also an outdoor patio but it was a hot day so thought inside seating might be better. The other reason I eliminated a star is because they only accept cash.
Best burger in Chicagoland! Ordered it just like they serve it at my much-heralded neighborhood spot, Au Cheval, with American cheese and pickles. It's no competition, Beinlich's is much better. It tastes fresher, and it's not weighed down in pork fat. Now if they could just open a location on Randolph Street.
Perfect place for a beer and a Burger. Good draft beer and deluxe burger with fries and coleslaw can't be beat.Bring cash - credit cards are not accepted. Closed Sunday and Monday.
Burgers are the big draw and hit the spot but the chili ? is exceptionally delicious. Intimate Northwoods tavern atmosphere. ?
It's not often I leave a low review; the food is overpriced. The menu is on the wall with no prices either. They accept cash or personal checks. I sat for recently with my family I posted a pic of the food and my bill you decide! I left 20% on top as well
Amazing burgers, service and atmosphere! Have always enjoyed coming here and they never fail to provide an outstanding experience.
Had shrimp cocktail, cheese burger and ham and cheese. Cocktails are really good
I’ve live in the area for 30 years and everyone says you need to try the burgers here. Well I have to say I tried the burger and for the price and the quality. I would go to McDonald’s down the street and save 9 dollars. You can tell the patty was frozen before cooking and the patty was small for the price. So I have to say that I’m not coming back even though I have a 50 dollar gift card to here. Definitely wouldn’t recommend this place.
This is my go to spot with my dad! We got the shrimp cocktail to start (my favorite around here) and I ordered the bacon cheese burger with cheddar. Great service too, 10/10 every time! **note: it’s cash only but they have an ATM
