A great family style Italian restaurant. I really enjoy their food. The pastas dishes are made out of excellent quality produce. Cheesy and tasty. Their pizza is made out of corn meal flour. It’s very crunchy and tasty as well. The portions are pretty huge I always end up with a to go bag. For the price, its excellent for families and events. The place is self service so before you seat, place your order then find a table( free seating). I love this joint. Ps: try the baked mostaccioli! Staff is amazing and food is made fresh.
Saw the review from David Portnoy and felt I had to give this place’s pizza a try. Right off the bat the pizza the pizza felt different, the crust didn’t feel like your usual dough crust rather felt like a little similar to a cauliflower crust pizza. Overall the pizza is above average and can be given a try!
We visited after attending the orchid show at the Chicago botanical garden. When you come in it’s a bit confusing because you have to place your order for food and drinks in the back and then seat yourself. There is no signage to let you know to do that! However, after getting that sorted out, we ordered from the specials menu. I had a grilled chicken sandwich on onion bun with Jack cheese and bacon and my husband ordered a chicken Phily sandwich with cheese. And we got one order of fries to share. The sandwiches were amazing! Both were done nicely and tasted great! The fries were perfection-crispy and not greasy! Our total with drinks was under $20. We recommend this place if you’re in the area.
I love this restaurant but. There was a line to wait in to get water (it’s the only way to get drinks. You have to stand in drink line. It’s separate from pizza order line). My kid was thirsty. We allWanted water with our meal. I stood in line. After 30 minutes and still waiting at the bar for a glass of water we decided to leave. If you are understaffed then Just leave pitchers of water for people to take. No restaurant is worth standing in line 30+ minutes to get water. By the time I got my water the food was cold. Terribly organized. Pic below from 6:30 pm Sunday March 6th. Line for drinks and water.
Never go to Barnaby’s in Northbrook again. Just picked up my pizza from Barnaby‘s in Northbrook I go there pretty often but never will again this is what it looked like when I opened the box . I called to tell the manager that there were some pieces missing and it looked like it had been dropped or something. I asked if I could send him the picture. He told me that it is impossible I am making this up they will not except pictures and they will not do anything for me. When I told him I have been a customer for years and will never come back he said so you’ll never come back that’s OK. I was a little afraid to eat it but the food there still is good the management just is terrible. Never again worst customer service I have ever experienced.
I love this place. It is frozen in time. It looks like it did in 1974. The food is pure comfort. The crust on these pizzas is remarkably good. Crisp and flavorful. The toppings are fresh and plentiful. A meal here takes me back to a simpler time, a better time in history. Prices here are very reasonable too. If you've never been here, you don't know what you are missing. Thank you, Barnaby's for connecting me with my past.
This is a truly unique tavern style pizza that truly must be tasted! It is one of my top pizzas period and I'm a bit of a pizza fanatic!
Barnaby has a cornmeal crust that is totally unique. The perfect crunch. It's a Chicago area pizza unlike any other. Also like their pimento cheese spread served with Ritz crackers. It's $6 and a really great appetizer. When my daughter and grandkids come to town It's a must go to for the gang. They all love it
It was quite crowded when we went to get our order that we placed by phone. Our order of 2 pizzas took at least an hour to prepare. It was hard to hear the numbers being called and the order of food preparations didn't match the numbers in hand so it was hard to tell if we missed hearing our number called. They need a better system such as a visual system, especially since they were not very nice about a quick check to see if we didn't hear our number, or if we misheard a number as our number. There was a long line reaching out to the door, where people seemed to think it was a good idea to hold it open during the winter. It was pretty crowded inside and even when not eating people didn't seem to think they should wear their masks. In the end we come the extra distance because we like the food, but the pizza we got this time didn't really match up to past standards. Maybe this will be the last time we get pizza here, based on the overall experience.
Great, unique pizza. I grew up going to a different Barnaby's but this place really brings back memories. Order at the counters (yes, drinks and food are separate) and enjoy the laid back, homey vibe. They have things other than pizza, too.
