I was passing through the area in search of vegan options and happened upon this lovely and old fashioned diner. I loved the relaxed and warm atmosphere full of returning patrons. I tried their delicious vegan chocolate chip banana pancakes but had a bit of a stomach upset afterwards. I didn’t ask if the butter used was vegan but I had presumed it was, I would make sure to double check prior to ordering. Their vegan cupcakes and other pastries looked delicious but I was watching my sugar intake so I was unable to sample them at this time. Although their freshly squeezed orange juice was a nice addition to my pancakes. (I did not prefer the taste of their tap water).
Service was spectacular, from putting in my order, to food delivery - had a great visit! Food was prepared perfectly to order, and tasted great. Staff is super friendly. Great overall atmosphere.
Check out vegan, vegetarian, and GF options if you have a group meeting w different dietary restrictions! Very friendly staff, open & welcoming seating area! Diverse menus, my daughter loves the baked items, and they sell good bread too.
Had a traumatic experience. WARNING FOR PEOPLE WITH ALLERGIES. It hurts me to leave a one star review, but I feel like it is almost my moral obligation to warn others with allergies. I have many allergies, including dairy and cinnamon. I ordered the vegan peanut butter pancakes, and asked if there was cinnamon in the pancakes before ordering, because I was allergic. They insisted there was not. After almost an hour of waiting, my pancakes arrived reeking of spice. I asked if they could double check if there was cinnamon, and they admitted that they actually didn't know if there was cinnamon in them or not, because they do not make the mix. I should've asked for a refund and walked away, but I figured if I ordered something else, it would be out quickly. I order eggs and toast. 45 minutes pass by. No food. I figure they had put my order last in the cue instead of first.By now it's been about 55 minutes. All of a sudden, I start shaking and I feel like I'm going to faint. I muster up all my energy to go to the counter, and beg the barista to bring me a piece of bread. She honestly saved me. She stopped making coffee right away, and brought me some bread and jam. I then asked how much time was left on my order, because if it wasn't going to be ready soon, I would have to leave because I needed to eat something and I was going to faint if I didn't. She checked. Apparently it had been sitting out, ready to be delivered to my table for about an hour already, and they would have to remake it. Brought me the order within 2 minutes, and I quickly ate so I could have some energy, hurried out of the restaurant, and cried as I walked back home. Because of my dairy allergy, I have ordered all kinds of delicious vegan bakery items from The Coffee House throughout my years here, and today I decided to sit in and order a meal for a change. I was having a stressful, rough week and wanted to treat myself to a nice breakfast and some alone time. I will never be dining here again.
Coffeehouse is a staple of Uptown Bloomington, I have been a customer for the past 10 years and will continue to go back time and time again. Appreciate the commitment to vegetarian and vegan food at such a reasonable price point. Highly recommend everyone to stop by and enjoy the great vibes.
I love that the Coffehouse menu is all vegetarian and has many vegan options! The food and coffee are great and you canNOT beat the prices. Definitely a regular stop for me!
Staying in town. Host has neither coffee nor wifi. I drove here to get both. Friendly people, coffee cost just $1 (!), and wifi cheerfully offered.Nice atmosphere. The menu looks impressive.I'll be back here every day while I'm in town, and my conscience will drive me to buy more than a buck cup of coffee. Love this place already.
I love this building SO much and the artwork and such!! I also love how dedicates they are to supporting small businesses and being able to buy coffee and syrups!! However, drinks are only good depending on what barista you get; not sure if people don't know how to make them or just a communication error but the quality is DRAMATICALLY different so if you're going there, watch out for that.
This place has been great for so many years, I've been getting coffee here since the 90's. Whenever I'm in B/N, I always stop by to get a cup and some beans to go.
Coffeehouse & Deli has been a mainstay in Uptown Normal for decades. Wonderful, relaxed atmosphere. Delicious vegetarian dishes. Great coffee and pastries as well. They showcase local artists and have open mic nights. A fabulous place to hang out with friends!
