Another "not my first time here, but first Google Review" for this place! Portillo's is a Chicago must! All Portillo's restaurants have their own unique style but same classic diner vibe, along with the classic pick-up order tag lines, friendly staff, and a few life-long employees too. Forgot to take photos of this visit's order of a Chili Cheese Dog (I should have ordered two) but how can you forget about their infamously large frosty chalices of beer (picture here doesn't do justice)! I remember when these used to be $3.50 (or less?) years ago but $4/5 ain't bad at all. Portillo's never gets old and is always a good option. I usually get a Jumbo Dog and most recently, their Plant-based Garden Dog is good! Their Tamales are underrated as well. On the Barnelli's side, I always get the Chopped Salad (of course!) no Ditalini Pasta. Chocolate Cake is a must and so is their Chocolate Cake Shake!
Portillos is definitive Chicago hot dogs and burgers is it the best no but it's right up there with the best of them. Stop bye there is usually a wait so many people can't be wrong with how good Portillos is. So try Portillos and find out just how good a Chicago hot dog and burger can be. I don't think you will be disappointed
Simply the best of classic Chicago food- dogs, Italian beef and sausage, and many more. Must visit every trip.
Tried their new Garden Dog and was pleasantly impressed. Great grilled flavor and texture was on point. Didn't miss the "real" hotdog.
Extremely long wait and you have to pick up your order from two different counters opposite sides of the building. 20 numbers were called before I finally lost my patience and asked them why my order was sitting on the counter. They just forgot to fill my drink. Unbelievable! Then I had to go get the other half of my order. Both were cold by the time I got them. Very bad service, for very expensive not fast food. I only went because it was across from the hospital. Never again.
Portillos Catering...I couldn't recommend more. I apologize I don't have better pictures, but my guests finished the food faster than expected. Everything was boxed super nice and easy to transport and serve. And the staff was really helpful and took care of any need I had.
Chicago hot dogs are my favorite, and few do it better than Portillo's in my opinion. I always stop by when I'm in Chicago. I love the fries too. They put some kinda magic fairy pixie dust seasoning on the fries that make it impossible to stop eating. My picky kids ate all the fries! Docked a star because their dipped sandwich was an awful, soggy mess. I'm guessing it sat too long while the rest of our items were prepped. My husband ended up tossing it because he could not stomach it. Spaghetti was also just okay.
Service and friendly environment
I love Portillo's! Great Chicago Hot dogs, Italian beef and Italian sausage sandwiches. I love the sweet and hot peppers I add to my sandwich. Just saying...Check it out I don't think you will be disappointed.
