Place was clean. Plenty of staff working to ensure service was quick. Food was pretty good. Good price. They just need to make sure they are checking orders before sending them out. They forgot one of my sandwiches but quickly rectified it when i brought it to their attention. I like the old time nostalgia feel of the dining room and all the old signs and signed pictures like you would see in a small local restaurant
Food was delicious- loss of 2 stars for service. Ordered 2 beef sandwiches and a large fry...all things that are already made. Place was empty when I ordered. I watches as person after person got orders. Was told there was a "back up at Beef." Finally got my order, that ended up being a bag that had been sitting there for at least 5 minutes. Total time: 28 minutes. Outrageous. Then, they messed up the order. Luckily it was giving us extra items instead of wrong items, so we didn't have to wait for them to fix it.
High noon and busy AF why?! Because it is damn good and consistent. Come on by and enjoy most of what Chicagoland food has to offer in one location. Portillo’s restaurants are consistently a great dining experience, also the drive throughs are always fast. Get in here!!
Portillo’s is definitely my go-to spot forever. I cannot believe I am only writing this review for the restaurant just now after being able to eat here a lot of times, and with that time, the experience would always be great. This is such a cool place for something casual. Even though it is always full of customers, as in, it is not empty every time we come here to eat, the number of customers is always very high. No wonder the place is also a go-to spot for a lot of people, including me, is because Portillo’s has the best fast food, especially the hot dogs and Italian beef sandwiches. I definitely had no problems with my order each time I went to this spot, particularly in this location. The food is always fresh, warm, and it just tastes good; something that can definitely fulfill anyone’s cravings. The prices are fair and reasonable too. Aside from the delicious food they have, they also have great customer service, as in literally every employee I see inside seems to really enjoy their job, and some would even make sure that everything is fine, and the wait for the food would not take too much time, and it would always be really quick.
We always love the food here....hot dogs, Italian beef, polish, and oh the cheese sauce with fries. The major complaint I have is that you need to check your order thoroughly before leaving when ordering takeout...our last 3 orders from this location were incorrect and living about 10 minutes from there makes a return trip to correct the mistake difficult. We have had chili dogs with no chili, missing hot dogs, missing beef sandwiches and random additions to the bag that were not on the order or receipt...good food but bad accuracy
Never had a bad Portillo's experience until this one. Nobody listens. My order was a polish on french bread with all the "Chicago hotdog" fixin's. I've had this maybe 100's of times. What I got was a Maxwell St. polish on french bread. I took it back and calmly explained the error. Someone of some status apologized, repeated my order back to me and had another sandwich made. This one came on a hotdog bun. When I explained this error, the "manager-type" person said "polish only come on a hotdog bun. I showed him my receipt showed I paid extra for "french bread". When he shrugged his shoulders, I knew I had lost.
If you've never had portillos you absolutely have to try their Italian beef sandwich and have a chocolate shake as well. We always have a good time. Don't let the line intimidate you. Go around 3pm.
My second visit to Chicago and Portillos. Love their beefs and the hot dogs are tasty! The atmosphere is awesome along with the old school Chicago decor.
When I was ordering the food, the drive thru workers were extremely rude. When I received my food and said goodbye they said “whatever” as I left. When I checked once I got home my sandwich had been thrown sideways and my fries were dumped into the bag. This isn’t even the correct provolone cheese. Extremely disappointed.
Portillos is almost always good. Got large lunch order for 4 people. Everything was correct, service was polite and relatively fast. They always seem to take a bit longer than most fast food places, but they get your order right and the food is hot and fresh. Worth it in my opinion.
