The patio is the selling point of this downtown Naperville reimagined space! Having dined on two separate occasions the frozen drinks were my fave. They have definitely distinguished themselves from the previous restaurant Jimmy’s but the food in my opinion is doing a bit too much and needs some tweaking. Service and decor is great as the space has been brightened up and exudes a beach, vacation vibe. One server did mention that they were not allowed to try the food which is a missed opportunity as having knowledgeable about the menu helps guests to feel more comfortable with the menu themselves. Something to definitely consider. The Short Rib Tots could benefit from having full pieces of short rib in them instead of just the flavor or purée. The concept is great but needs better execution. The salads are plentiful and fresh! The gnocchi takes like Thanksgiving and is a real winner! The desserts are fun and worth trying- especially the Banana Foster Crème Brûlée.It will be interesting to see how they do when the weather changes and the patio is no longer the draw. Hoping they figure out the quirks as it is a welcomed refreshing star in downtown Naperville.
So I'll definitely be back at some point to hopefully have another experience and potentially give it an extra star because I feel like this place has more potential we just went on the wrong day. So I had made reservations and we ended up seated by the entrance of where a private party was happening and it was very loud. Because of that party I think the staff was overwhelmed. The manager came and took my drink order and then forgot. So I got my first drink after the food got to our table but they did offer on their own to comp that drink. We were constantly searching for our waitress even though she was very friendly. The first drink I ordered was really good, it had mezcal in it. But the drinks that followed were thick and syrupy and did not taste good, I paid for those anyways. This was surprising because the pictures of their drinks online is what brought us in, in the first place. The food however was soooo good! I had the shrimp n grits with a side of mushrooms. I inhaled both of them it was amazing. My friend really enjoyed her meal as well and didn't like her drink either. We also shared an octopus appetizer that we both really enjoyed. The space was decorated nicely.I will be back soon but In the meantime work on the drink menu, lol. And I would also suggest having extra staff when someone reserves a party in that room.
Good hosts. Very less option on menu. Also bar doesn’t serve any of the usual cocktails. Just the once on the menu.
Lunch on a Tuesday afternoon-- wow wow wow! You feel like you're in a garden in California or France. The outside patio is so refreshing. At first I was a little taken aback by the pricing, but when the dishes came out, you can see that you get what you pay for! The quality of food was excellent. The host was so kind when he sat us, and continue to check on us. Our server was also very helpful without being too present. I took a quick tour as we were leaving, to see how much it had changed since the former ownership. The interior is literally transformed! They even have a nice little room that looks like it would be perfect for a private party. I only wish they would be serving breakfast weekly!(I wish the manager from Rosebud, across the street would come visit Bevs. As the Rosebud staff could use a little tutorial in etiquette.... but that's a different review!?
My husband and I experienced Bev’s for the first time today for brunch and it did not disappoint! The staff including Alicia and Mike were more than welcoming! The specialty cocktails and brunch menu were delicious and unique to the area. I would highly recommend!
You, know for a new restaurant you're starting off pretty somber. You would think that for $10 I'd get at least a half full glass of wine. We got 2 appetizers, Parm Bombs and Short Rib Tots. Parm bombs were decent, Tots was mushed meat, and the price was outrageous. $44 I gave a $10 tip; the waiter was courteous, but we didn't even have a meal out of this. French Pressed coffee I will say was very good, however I will not be going there again. Biggest disappointment was not so much the price but the serving of this glass of wine. REALLY? Not even half of a glass. The menu should read 3/16 of a glass
Good service, good beer. Moody Tongue (2 Michelin star brewery downtown) beer on the menu is a plus, I have not seen anywhere else in downtown Naperville yet.We had the chicken gnocchi and burger w/fries. Both good, albeit slightly over salted for my taste. I would eat here again and ask to reduce the salt level.Having lived in downtown for a few years, they’re trying to bring a city restaurant feel to the burbs - think Hampton Social without the swings. There’s some kinks to be worked out but overall the experience was good.
Tried out Bev’s for the first time today. Enjoyed their brunch menu including a nice cold Beer Hug from Goose Island. The Chilaquiles were phenomenal and would highly recommend! Almost finished my plate!
This started as a two star rating but is now one star. I ordered the steak salad medium it came out well, well done and salty??? So I continued with the short rib bombs. As another reviewer said, it was mushy and underwhelming. I couldn’t finish the third one. I asked for a complimentary fountain drink to wash it down. I literally took 3 sips, paid the check and left. The only thing I was offered for my experience was a pouty frowning face and an insincere apology. I eat in downtown Naperville often. I’ve had better food at Starbucks.
Yikes… should’ve read the reviews before coming here. The Short Rib Tators tasted like nothing and looked like deep fried mush, everything we ordered (Braised Chicken Gnocchi, Steak BLT sandwich and Japanese mushrooms) were extremely salty to the point of being inedible. I never leave reviews but because it was so expensive I feel I need to warn others. Save your money
